Job Summary:
Join our compassionate and collaborative team at the Behavioral Health Crisis Center, where you will play a vital role in helping clients set and achieve their recovery goals. As a Lead Peer Support Specialist, you will promote self-directed progress and support crisis care plans, making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve. We are looking for individuals who can model effective recovery skills, demonstrate unconditional positive regard, and provide support without judgment. Your expertise will help foster a supportive environment, and you will assist in onboarding and training while contributing to our organizational goals.

In this role, you will provide practical role modeling and utilize your personal experiences to benefit clients. You will implement guidelines and procedures while promoting coping skills for managing substance use disorders and mental health symptoms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate in accordance with Brightli Operational Guidelines and within your professional Code of Ethics and Scope of Practice.
  • Provide practical role modeling and utilize personal experience to benefit the client.
  • Implement guidelines, procedures, and program rules.
  • Promote coping skills for managing substance use disorders and mental health symptoms.
  • Share lived experiences of recovery positively and demonstrate the use of recovery tools and modeling of successful recovery behaviors.
  • Maintain and leverage knowledge of community resources and assist clients in developing a supportive network and resource ecosystem.
  • Assist clients with identifying strengths and resources to achieve self-directed recovery goals, fostering independent decision-making and proactive involvement in their treatment.
  • · Teach and model symptom management and problem-solving skills.
  • Document interventions, resources linked, client behaviors, strengths, progress, responses, challenges, concerns, and needs promptly using the electronic health record.
  • Provide transportation as clinically appropriate in line with company and program guidelines.
  • Lead and support training and education to maintain industry standards and strive for best practice.
  • Assist with chart audits and review progress summaries to improve services provided.
  • Maintain scheduling calendar within the peer discipline in collaboration with leadership.
  • Assist with data entry and integrity management.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Certified Peer Specialist in the state of practice required.
  • One year of experience working in the field; additional experience preferred.
  • Lived experience with both mental health and substance use preferred.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of all mandatory continuing education to maintain certification and successfully complete CPR, First Aid, and CPI Training.
  • Ability to establish effective relationships to work with a variety of persons in crisis and the competence to handle crisis assessment and intervention.
  • Ability to correctly enter documentation into an Electronic Health Record.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (exists 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • Repetitive movements of hands, fingers, and arms for typing and/or writing during work shift.
  • Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
