Position Overview:
We are seeking a creative and motivated student marketing assistant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and innovation student passionate about marketing, data analytics, and the BYU–Hawaii’s mission to gain hands-on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Market Research and Analytics:
· Conduct research on target audience preferences and communication trends for communication efforts on campus. Collect, monitor, and analyze key performance indications (KPIs) to measure the success of marketing initiatives. Provide insights and recommendations for improvement.
· Develop and distribute surveys, create and carry out focus groups and booths, collect data from existing digital tools and applications and tools such as myBYUH, Brightspot, Microsoft Forms, QR Generator, AnswerThePublic, and social media platforms.
· Develop a deep understanding of the target audience for their preferences and needs.
Idea Pitching:
· Develop innovative ways to perform market research that benefit the university’s mission and BYUH experience.
· Prepare and deliver persuasive presentations to the Marketing and Communications team and/or clients, showcasing your findings and their alignment with project objectives.
· Provide recommendations and propose plans based on data and findings.
· Create marketing strategies, slogans, and plans for campus-wide campaigns and university projects.
Client Collaboration:
· When assigned to work with other departments, act as a liaison between departments and the Marketing and Communications team, understanding their objectives and translating them into effective marketing solutions.
· Attend client briefings, actively participating in discussions to grasp project requirements and goals.
· Foster open communication and a collaborative environment to align client expectations and communication outcomes.
· Proactively communicate project progress, potential roadblocks, and solutions to clients and team members.
Other Tasks:
· May be tasked to do design work for deliverables such as posters, digital signage, and social media graphics, adhering to the established university brand guides
· Assist in managing the scheduling for the university sidewalk signs and bulletin boards, and evaluate the effectiveness of various locations on campus.
· Assist in inventory tracking of university swag and preparing orders
Qualifications:
· Currently enrolled as a student pursuing a degree in marketing.
· Basic knowledge of design principles and graphic design applications such as Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Express, Illustrator, and Photoshop) and other relevant design tools.
· Experience in creating surveys and analyzing data.
· Good communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate concepts and rationales effectively.
· Detail-oriented approach to data collecting, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
· Good organizational skills, enabling the management of multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
· Proactive problem-solving attitude and ability to collaborate within a team-oriented environment.
· Previous experience in market research, client interactions, or presentations is a plus.
