Position Summary

Manage the South America Proving Ground operations and testing activities. This role leads meeting the requirements of tire development programs via execution of outdoor tire testing requirements. Additionally, the role leads the team in safety and environmental standards, OPEX and CAPEX budget management, and supporting internal and external visitor / rental events.

 

Responsibilities

Responsabilidades:

  • Manage all Proving Ground activities and the supporting team.
  • Support ATC management with weekly communication meeting and monthly reports including HR personnel issues, budget considerations facility usage, etc. 
  • Manage all activities to ensure that SAPG maintains  certification of external quality standards 17025/ISO9001/IATF16949
  • Maintain the operational functionality and appearance of the facilities through regular maintenance of facilities, test surfaces, equipment and vehicles.  Coordinate and manage the work of the external maintenance team in support of this goal.
  • Provide logistical and technical support to testing and Engineering teams from internal and visiting customers;
  • Support the Sales and Marketing, Public Relations and Press departments to plan, define resources, dates, etc. for execution of events in the Proving Grounds- including Ride & Drive, as requested. Manage the shared resource burden in support of these activities by mutual agreement with all stakeholders.
  • Plan, organize and distribute resources to achieve the required testing and operations activities. 
  • Meet weekly to discuss new projects, deadlines and resources with the product development teams – SAEO.
  • Audit test results to ensure data quality and test procedures are being met satisfactorily and under appropriate conditions.
  •  Implement safety and environmental standards and policies that comply with relevant regulations and Bridgestone internal policies, to meet corporate kpis and requirements.
  • Monitor safety targets and kpis provided by leadership and provide improvement and preventative actions to achieve them.
  • Work together with security area to guarantee that  all, visitors / employees, are completely familiarized and following the rules during the use of the facilities;
  • Manage OPEX and CAPEX expenses as budgeted.  Support management in developing the annual budget.  Communicate to management in advance when budget overages will occur to gain prior alignment.  Prepare medium and long-term capital and staffing plans.
  • Lead all Proving Ground leasing (rental) activities, budget, feasibility and risk analysis, contact with customers, control usage and payment according to the contract;
  • Establish annual goals in accordance with the company's annual guideline, execute check-in meetings with all teammates, and work to improve team performance and grow capability.
  • Manage and determine the necessary training for the team and evaluate the effectiveness including on-boarding of new hires.
  • Report the Proving Ground's effectiveness and efficiency indicators to the director through the monthly report.
  • Strengthen communication, establish partnerships within Bridgestone’s areas such as Manufacturing, HR, Finance, Purchasing, Legal, etc.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Engineering Degree or equivalent technical experience.
  • English Language Proficiency.
  • Strong experience with 17025/ISO9001.
  • Vehicle Dynamics or Tire Testing experience. 
  • Business Administration / Finance – experience with managing budgets and capital projects.
