About this role

Your Role 

As a Business Development Manager – Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants & Elastomers (CASE), you will drive sustainable and profitable growth within the CASE market segments. The role focuses on identifying and developing new business opportunities, strengthening strategic customer and supplier relationships, and introducing innovative material and application solutions aligned with Brenntag’s regional and global strategy. Your mandate will be to expand market share across key CASE applications, grow strategic accounts, and unlock new product and formulation opportunities through strong principal partnerships, differentiated technical value, and disciplined commercial execution.

Responsibilities 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with principals to remain informed on new raw materials, formulation technologies, application developments, and market trends within the CASE sectors.
  • Identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities, customers, and applications across coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomers.
  • Promote Brenntag’s technical capabilities and product portfolio at key accounts, working closely with technical and application support teams.
  • Introduce new suppliers, product ranges, and formulation solutions to strengthen Brenntag’s competitive position in the CASE market.
  • Develop and execute structured business plans with defined short-, medium-, and long-term objectives aligned to budgets and strategic growth targets.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop competitive pricing strategies and support complex customer negotiations.
  • Actively manage and maintain a robust project and opportunity pipeline to ensure successful commercialisation and return on investment.
  • Represent Brenntag at industry events, customer forums, and trade shows to enhance brand visibility and market positioning within the CASE industry.

Your Profile 

You are an experienced CASE industry professional with a proven ability to grow markets through technical insight and disciplined commercial execution. You bring a strong understanding of formulations, raw materials, and customer applications, supported by excellent relationship management and negotiation skills. You thrive in a dynamic, performance-driven environment and consistently deliver sustainable growth.

Skills 

  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to build data-driven business cases and value propositions.
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships with customers and principals at both technical and executive levels.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Solid understanding of CASE formulations, raw materials, and application requirements (e.g. resins, additives, fillers, elastomers, performance modifiers).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and CRM systems (SAP knowledge advantageous).
  • Strategic, self-driven thinker with strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle.

Experience 

  • 5–8 years’ experience in business development or technical sales within coatings, adhesives, sealants, elastomers, chemical distribution, or related manufacturing industries.
  • Proven track record of winning new business, developing applications, and growing key accounts.
  • Experience managing the full sales cycle, from opportunity identification through to commercial closure and ongoing account development.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with commercial, technical, supply chain, and supplier partners.

Education 

  • Matric or equivalent qualification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or a related technical or business discipline.
  • A postgraduate or master’s qualification will be an advantage.
