We are actively seeking an experienced Service Director to oversee the Service Department of one of our Premier Dealership Locations in New York.

Service Director Responsibilities

The Automotive Service Director is responsible for the efficient and profitable operation of the Service Department.

  • Responsible for welcoming customers with a warm and sincere greeting
  • Responsible for hiring and supervising all service department personnel, as well as monitoring their sales production and performance in servicing the customers
  • Responsible for creating goals and objectives for the department as well as meeting own minimum requirements outlined by upper management
  • Exhibits a professional management style that sets the example for enthusiasm, respectfulness, productivity, and accountability
  • Responsible for overseeing the service and repair of vehicles brought to the dealership
  • Supervises and manages the work load and distribute work to technicians efficiently
  • Ensures excellent service standards and meets Customer Service Index (CSI) scores at or above company standards
  • Provides training on administrative policies and procedures for all Dept. personnel
  • Maintains current knowledge on brand vehicle maintenance requirements, operations, manufacturer warranties and policy procedures while serving as a liaison with factory representatives
  • Ensures clean and safe work environment at all times and adhere to OSHA requirements
  • Understands and complies with federal, state, and local regulations such as those governing the disposal of hazardous waste
  • Follows manufacturer policies and procedures
  • Follows and reinforces staff of company safety procedures and policies

Service Manager Qualifications

  • Individuals employed in this position must be able to stand, sit and mobilize through various dealership work areas (sometimes for extended periods)
  • Individuals employed in this position must be able to maintain the profitability of their departments while controlling expenses and maintaining customer satisfaction
  • Individuals employed in this position must display excellent customer service skills, including without limitation: managing difficult or challenging customer situations; responding promptly to customer needs; soliciting customer feedback to improve service; responding to requests for service and assistance; meeting commitments to customers and management
  • Individuals employed in this position must have excellent interpersonal communication skills; cultural sensitivity and demonstrates ability to work with diverse people groups
  • Individuals employed in this position must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions and management
  • Individuals employed in this position must be able to read, and generally analyze and interpret relevant business periodical, professional journals, technical procedures and/or government regulations and write reports and general business correspondence
  • Individuals employed in this position must demonstrate sufficient computer literacy
  • Individuals employed in this position must possess a valid driver’s license in good standing and possess acceptable safe driving record
  • Individual employed in this position must possess a positive attitude and commitment to adhere to and administer company policies, procedures and standards
  • Individuals employed in this position must have required factory certifications and ensure that all team members have required factory certifications as well
