As a leading Trane® independent office, Brady brings efficient, reliable, and secure building solutions throughout central and eastern North Carolina. We take pride in all we do and in our Associates which is why we offer competitive pay and compensation, benefits, growth opportunities, and more!

SUMMARY: The Field Safety Advisor serves as a hands-on safety resource supporting service operations and project work across all business locations. This role is primarily field-based, with regular visits to job sites and customer locations to assess safety conditions, identify hazards, and help teams develop practical, compliant, and effective solutions to work-related safety challenges before, during, and after work is performed.

When not in the field, the Field Safety Advisor will work from a company office located in Raleigh or Wilmington, NC. The position requires the ability to work independently while also collaborating closely with associates, project teams, customers, and the EHS team. A company-provided work truck serves as the primary mobile office while in the field. Building trust, credibility, and strong working relationships—while consistently maintaining and enforcing safety standards—is essential to success in this role.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.

  • Lead safety programs and initiatives by positively influencing associates’ actions and behaviors toward safer work practices
  • Support the development, implementation, training, periodic updating, and auditing of a comprehensive Safety program across all business locations to promote a safety-focused culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and secure a safe work environment for all associates
  • Collaborate closely with the EHS team to ensure consistency in safety standards, messaging, and field execution
  • Assist with larger or higher-risk projects by providing safety planning, coordination, and field oversight
  • Support customer safety prequalification processes, including documentation review and responses to safety-related requirements
  • Assist with corporate safety initiatives and company-wide safety campaigns as requested by the EHS team

FIELD ASSESSMENT & RISK MANAGEMENT

  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, plan reviews, and field observations to identify unsafe conditions, program gaps, and opportunities to apply best practices
  • Visit job sites as needed prior to work being awarded to assess safety concerns, access conditions, and anticipated hazards
  • Provide ongoing field support after work is awarded and during active service and project execution
  • Follow through on corrective actions to ensure timely completion and effectiveness
  • Assess and support work involving fall protection, electrical hazards, rigging and lifting, confined space entry, and other high-risk activities

COACHING, AUTHORITY & FIELD PRESENCE

  • Coach and mentor associates at all levels on safe work practices, hazard identification, and risk management
  • Actively engage with associates to build positive working relationships while consistently upholding safety standards
  • Correct unsafe behaviors and conditions in real time, including stopping work when necessary to address dangerous situations
  • Clearly explain safety expectations and corrective actions, particularly when serious hazards exist

INCIDENT RESPONSE, LEARNING & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

  • Serve as a point of contact for associates to raise safety concerns, questions, or emerging field issues
  • Be available, as needed, outside of normal business hours to respond to safety incidents, urgent concerns, or high-risk conditions
  • Provide on-call support for incident response, investigation initiation, and immediate risk mitigation
  • Accompany associates to medical facilities following work-related injuries when required to support proper care, documentation, and incident management
  • Conduct incident and near-miss investigations with a focus on understanding root causes and identifying effective corrective and preventive actions
  • Participate in post-incident learning events, reviews, and safety stand-downs to reinforce lessons learned, share findings with the EHS team and associates, and prevent recurrence
  • Track trends and recurring hazards to support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide hands-on support for inspections, investigations, incident and claims management, and overall safety program administration consistent with business goals

TRAINING, DOCUMENTATION & ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Deliver a wide variety of safety training for associates, including service and project teams
  • Provide driver safety and driving behavior training when requested
  • Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, observations, corrective actions, and daily activities
  • Track and document daily field activities using electronic safety systems and mobile tools
  • Supply training completion to the EHS Coordinator to support accurate and up-to-date safety training records across all locations

COLLABORATION & TEAM ENGAGEMENT:

  • Work cooperatively with associates, supervisors, project managers, operations personnel, customers, and the EHS team to plan and execute safety-related actions
  • Serve as a trusted safety advisor who balances operational needs with effective risk management

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Regular travel within the Raleigh/Wilmington region
  • Periodic travel to Greensboro (typically a few times per month)
  • Occasional travel to South Carolina and Georgia to support boiler operations
  • Ability to work flexible hours based on service, project, and incident response needs
