Title: Project Manager- Utility and Forestry

CNUC provides consulting and operational teams to utilities, regulators, and UVM service providers across Canada. Our work focuses on keeping vegetation safely away from power lines, program and compliance reviews, quality assurance, and expert witness services.

Key Responsibilities:
People Management
- Manage and mentor lead foresters and team members to ensure successful project delivery.
- Works in collaboration with Human Resources regarding employment for crew members including, but not limited to, hiring, discipline, separation of employment, leaves of absence, as well as policy compliance regarding employment for crew members.
- Evaluates crew members’ performance to determine promotions/performance. Ensure crew members have consistent performance reviews for opportunities to advance.
- Maintain and accuracy of all records and reports related to the performance of the crew’s operation.
- Provide field-level direction and support to team members, fostering collaboration and ensuring that everyone is working toward common objectives.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration within the project teams.
Site Management
- Oversee all phases of the project lifecycle—from initiation through closure.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders and clients, ensuring that communication is clear, timely, and transparent.
- Assist with meeting financial goals by planning for effective use of manpower, work methods, and operation of equipment.
- Act as the primary point of contact for senior leadership, clients, and external partners.
- Develop and manage the project budget, ensuring costs remain within the agreed-upon limits.
- Comply with applicable federal, provincial and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.
- Prepare and deliver detailed reports, presentations, and project updates to stakeholders.
- Other duties as required.
Experience and Knowledge Expectation:
- Post-secondary education in a related field such as Forestry, Environmental Sciences, or a similar discipline, or any combination of experience and education.
- Professional designation would be considered an asset.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and a current driver’s abstract with fewer than 6 demerit points.
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening is required.
- Possession of valid industry- or service line-specific certifications, as applicable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Strong financial acumen, including experience with budget development, budget management, and variance analysis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients, colleagues, and the public.
- Demonstrated commitment to enforcing and promoting on-the-job safety practices.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and best practices.
- A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and grow within the role.
- Willingness and ability to travel.
