About this role

You'll start your morning by setting up our Fireside Room with coffee, OJ, fruit, and yogurt. Then prepare fresh fruit salad/fruit tray and set up/take down salad bars. In the afternoon you'll cut fresh greens for the evening dinner salad and prep a variety of toppings and a vinaigrette or dressing. End your day by creating a variety of fresh compound salads and stocking up for the following day.

Position Summary: 

Hillcrest Senior Living Community is seeking a dedicated salad prep/line cook to join our team. The salad prep/line cook position participates as a member of the food production staff to prepare and serve a culinary experience to our residents and their guests. This position is responsible for preparing high-quality salads, dressings, and ingredients for the creation of compound salads and various dishes, and providing support for the smooth operation of our kitchen. Specific tasks and prep lists will be assigned each shift. This role requires precision, efficiency, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Complete ServSafe Certification within four (4) months of start date

Preferred

  • One (1) year experience as prep/line cook.

Essential Job Functions:

In addition to the essential functions of the job listed below, employees must have on-time completion of all required education as assigned per DNV requirements, Bozeman Health policy, and other registry requirements.

  • Development: Participates in production team meetings, menu, and recipe development
  • Food Preparation: Prepare vegetables, fruits, meats, and other ingredients according to recipes and portion sizes. This includes slicing, dicing, chopping, and marinating.
  • Salad Assembly: Assemble salads and other cold dishes with accuracy and attention to presentation standards.
  • Dressing Preparation: Prepare salad dressings and sauces according to established recipes, ensuring consistency in flavor and quality.
  • Stock Management: Monitor and manage ingredient inventory levels to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
  • Sanitation and Hygiene: Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines, maintaining a clean and organized work area at all times.
  • Assist in Kitchen Operations: Support the kitchen team with various tasks as needed, including dishwashing, cleaning, and organizing storage areas.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other kitchen staff to coordinate food preparation and ensure timely delivery of orders.

Schedule Requirements

  • This role requires regular and sustained attendance.
  • The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.
  • On-call work may be required to respond promptly to organizational, patient, or employee needs.

Infectious diseases due to contact with patients in areas that may have contagious illnesses.
