GAMESROOM INSTRUCTOR

Job Description

Purpose: The purpose of the Gamesroom program is to provide participatory recreational services for Boys & Girls Club members.  This is accomplished through the implementation of a weekly program plan that includes tournaments and contests, skills classes, and participatory displays.  The Junior Gamesroom is a supervised, controlled area where members utilize the available equipment and have FUN. Mentoring, both individually and in groups, occurs daily in the Gamesroom. This is a part-time position. School  year hours are either 3:00pm-7:00pm or 3:30pm-8:00pm, depending on which club you are assigned to. Summer hours are from 12:00am-5:00pm at all clubs. Starting pay is $14.50 per hour based on experience.

Job Segments: Program Related – In order to provide a quality experience for Boys & Girls Club members, Gamesroom instructors are expected to provide a plan which includes:

  1. Supervised free play.
  2. At least two tournaments or contests each day.
  3. “On the spot” fun activities on a daily basis.
  4. Skills lessons three times each week.
  5. At least one group club which meets weekly.
  6. Participation in monthly InterClub tournaments.

The above program activities should reflect specific age groups and boy/girl/co-ed opportunities.
Requirements

                                    1. 18 years of age with a High School Diploma.
                                    2. Must have 2-3 years experience working with children of all ages.

Non-Program Related – In addition to program duties, gamesroom instructors are expected to:

  1. Maintain attractive, up-to-date bulletin boards and displays, including a display of weekly program and members-of-the-month.
  2. Maintain equipment and make minor repairs as needed.
  3. At closing, stack chairs and prepare for following day’s activities.
  4. Supervise hallways and areas adjacent to gamesroom, including snack bar eating area.
  5. Assist membership desk/coat check areas as needed.
