Interested in joining the Resort Safety Team at Boyne Mountain? We are hiring for all shifts, including overnight. Don’t have any experience? We will be happy to train you! The Resort Safety team is responsible actively patrolling all base area resort property, including facilities, with a focus on identifying potential safety hazards and taking or facilitating corrective action, providing excellent guest service, responding to emergencies and calls for service, and rendering first aid, as appropriate. Team members often answer guest questions, complete incident reports, inspect various work areas, direct traffic, assist with lost and found, review camera footage, interact with outside agencies, and assist staff/guests. Attention to detail, exceptional communication skills, adaptability, integrity, honesty, good judgment, critical-thinking, and a willingness to learn are all necessary to be successful in this role. In many instances team members function autonomously with minimal supervision. In turn, all team members are expected to lead by example and maintain the highest level of professionalism while executing responsibilities in a safe and courteous manner.

Responsibilities

The Safety Officer's typical job functions include:

 

  • Actively patrol resort property on foot and by vehicle to monitor and support operations as trained/assigned
  • Regularly engage with guests and staff in a friendly and helpful manner; seek opportunities to be of service
  • Prioritize and respond to calls for service/emergencies in a timely manner, based on the nature of the call
  • Provide first aid care to guests and staff, as appropriate; contact emergency services as requested or needed
  • Assist with the inspection and maintenance of first aid kits, AEDs, safety equipment and fire extinguishers on property
  • Complete or facilitate completion of thorough and accurate reports (incident, witness, lost & found, etc.)
  • Strive for Excellence in Execution by ensuring safety and brand standards are met or exceeded
  • Develop Great People through considerate education and positive recognition
  • Think Long-Term by identifying opportunities to mitigate risk/improve safety, and share solutions with management
  • Perform routine inspections of all facilities and outlets to monitor compliance with company safety/MIOSHA standards and report deficiencies to safety director. Ensure mandatory MIOSHA notices and posters are properly displayed at all required workstations. Support corrective action as assigned/requested.
  • Maintain understanding of required safety programs including Lock Out/Tag Out, Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazard Communication, Fall Protection to monitor compliance and educate staff.
  • Assist other departments as requested during periods of high volume, to maximize guest experience

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience                                            

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associates degree in related or experience in safety, hospitality, or emergency services desired
  • Bi-lingual preferred 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Current Driver's License
  • Current CPR/AED certification
  • First Aid certification or higher within 30 days of employment

  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and/or nights, with varying hours based on season
