Overview

Sunday River is seeking Baristas for our signature coffee shops, Northern Lights and Coffee Hound. This role is a front-of-the-house, directly guest-facing, hands-on position, and will be trained, if not already experienced, to have a thorough knowledge of classic Italian espresso drinks as well as more modern hot and cold brew coffee drinks.  

  

Similar to bartenders, a barista is highly engaging with customers, strives to remember repeat customer’s drinks, and is often rewarded with the benefit of tips (based on their interactions with customers and the quality and details of the products they serve). A successful barista is a multitasker, organized, and able to work under pressure in an often fast-paced environment. A positive attitude and great customer service, along with high self-motivation and the desire to work with people go a long way in this role. 

   

The Barista position requires the capacity to describe all items on the outlet's drink and food menus and spend most of the workday standing while being able to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds. The shifts are both day and night and include weekends and holidays with extra/longer shifts needed during periods of extremely heavy business. 


Responsibilities

  • Maintain a high level of guest service and help with drink choices if needed 
  • Answer questions, take payments and prepare all beverages ordered in a timely manner 
  • Always maintain a clean and organized workspace and operate under Maine state health code requirements 
  • Restock throughout the day during slower periods 
  • Maintain inventory of items used and provide updates of low stock for weekly orders 
  • Learn point of sales computer system and accurately take payments and orders 
  • Complete opening and closing shift duties and side work, including set-up, stocking, prep for the next day, tear-down, and sanitization of outlet 
  • Be able to inform guests of the menu choices at other mountain restaurants, promote area activities and be able to answer general knowledge questions involving the resort 
  • Communicate with the Manager regarding all supply needs 
  • Assist with bar inventory counts once a month 
  • Communicate maintenance and repairs as needed for FOH for bar and/or dining room to be presentable and in working order for all guests 
  • Communicate frequently with BOH. 
  • Responsible for operating the FOH within the guidelines in the Boyne Brand Standard Audit 
  • Assist outside of outlet at times of high volume 

Qualifications

  • Related experience preferred, but not required. 
  • Must be at least 16 years old
