About this role

Overview:

We are looking for an Application Developer to join our growing Information Technology team. In this role you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining applications that directly support our mission. The role requires a strong technical background, a commitment to best practices, and the ability to translate operational needs into effective technology solutions.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of new and existing applications using a variety of programming languages and frameworks.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to collect, document, and analyze business requirements to recommend effective IT and business solutions
  • Participate in quality assurance to ensure software solutions are tested thoroughly for functionality and performance by creating and executing test scripts and documenting results
  • Act as Product Manager for developed solutions and maintain the technical roadmap for their implementation and growth.
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert on custom applications and third-party technical solutions and provide technical support to resolve complex issues in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain APIs for data integration with internal and external systems.
  • Creating and managing SharePoint sites, lists, libraries, or workflows.
  • Designing or supporting business process automations (e.g., Power Automate or similar workflow tools.
  • Generate capital & operating budget for application development project needs such as license purchases, project related tools, and rollout costs to end users.
  • Ensure the security, accessibility, performance, data integrity, and scalability of all developed applications.
  • Create app rollout plan and maintain robust documentation, develop training, and train users on the applications developed and third-party solutions.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and advocate for their adoption when appropriate.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned.

 

Hours:
Full-time 37.5 hours per week
  • Monday-Friday 9am-5:30pm
  • This is a hybrid position, based in New York City, and requires 3 days-a-week onsite. Only local candidates will be considered.

Required Experience:

  • Strong proficiency in Salesforce development, administration, customization, data migration, and integration.
  • Experience with agile development and project management methodologies.
  • Understanding of database design and management.
  • Understanding of API design principles.
  • Familiarity with distributed applications on Azure or AWS.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and propose innovative practical solutions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

BRC is one of New York City's largest providers of housing and services for individuals experiencing homelessness. Founded in 1971 by a group of recovering alcoholics living in poverty in the Bowery’s infamous flophouses, these individuals had hope, and a firm belief that better days lay ahead.
