You’ll build the core infrastructure that powers our products — from APIs and event-driven systems to cloud architecture — ensuring our platform runs reliably and efficiently at scale.</p> <p>This is an opportunity to join at an exciting stage of growth where you’ll shape technical direction, solve complex distributed systems challenges, and see your ideas come to life quickly. You’ll collaborate across teams to architect and deliver solutions that drive performance, scalability, and developer excellence.</p> <p><strong>What you’ll do here:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Design, build, and scale backend services and APIs (GraphQL and REST) that power Boulevard’s e-commerce platform.</li> <li>Modernize legacy monolithic applications using modern architectures such as domain-driven design, event-driven design, clean architecture, and CQRS.</li> <li>Design and build modern, scalable, service-oriented, event-driven applications that will be the foundation of Boulevards Consumer Marketplace.</li> <li>Lead projects end-to-end — from ideation to deployment — ensuring technical quality, scalability, and timely delivery.</li> <li>Proactively identify issues, propose solutions, and drive continuous improvement across the platform.</li> <li>Mentor and support other engineers, fostering technical growth and a culture of learning.</li> <li>Demonstrate senior-level ownership in code quality, collaboration, and execution; influence through expertise and impact.</li> </ul> <p><strong>What you’ll need to thrive:</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Experience:</strong> 6+ years building and scaling distributed backend systems in production environments.</li> <li><strong>Technical Expertise:</strong> Strong background in designing and implementing GraphQL and REST APIs, with fundamentals in system design, data modeling, and performance optimization.</li> <li><strong>Scalable Systems:</strong> Deep understanding of caching, queuing (Kafka, Redis MQ, or similar), and asynchronous architectures (Event Driven Design, Clean Architecture).</li> <li><strong>Cloud Fluency:</strong> Hands-on experience architecting and operating large-scale services on AWS (or similar).</li> <li><strong>Programming Excellence:</strong> Proficiency in at least one backend language (e.g., Go, Node.js, Ruby, or similar) and openness to learning Elixir.</li> <li><strong>Ownership &amp; Leadership:</strong> Proven ability to lead projects from concept to delivery, set technical direction, and resolve challenges proactively.</li> <li><strong>Collaboration:</strong> Strong communicator who thrives in cross-functional environments and drives outcomes through influence and partnership.</li> <li><strong>Mentorship:</strong> Commitment to mentoring and elevating others through thoughtful feedback, knowledge sharing, and high engineering standards.</li> </ul> <p><strong>How we’ll take care of you:&nbsp;&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><em>Your starting</em><strong><em> total cash</em></strong><em> (base salary + bonus) compensation for this role is between <strong>$</strong></em><strong><em>165,000 - $235,000 USD, </em></strong><em>depending on your current skills, experience, training, and overall market demands.
