Position Overview:

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented General Liability Associate Attorney to join the firm’s New York office. The ideal candidate will have experience defending general liability matters—including premises liability, property damage, and personal injury claims—and a desire to build their litigation skillset in a fast-paced environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an associate to gain hands-on experience with general liability matters while working with experienced litigators and managing their own caseload.

Key Responsibilities:

• Handle general liability defense matters, including premises liability, negligent security, motor vehicle accidents, and related personal injury claims.

• Support senior attorneys in all phases of litigation, including discovery, legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs.

• Attend court appearances, depositions, hearings, and client meetings.

• Conduct legal research and evaluate case law to support litigation strategy.

• Review case files, manage document production, and prepare detailed reports for senior attorneys and clients.

• Participate in settlement discussions, mediations, and negotiations as needed.

• Stay informed about relevant statutes, case law, and regulations impacting general liability defense in New York.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

• Admission to the New York State Bar.

• 2–8 years of experience in general liability defense or related litigation (recent graduates with compelling internships or clerkships may be considered).

• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.

• Ability to handle multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail.

• Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and case management software.

Preferred:

• Experience handling general liability defense matters.

• Familiarity with insurance defense, premises liability, or personal injury litigation.
