GENERAL PURPOSE:

Assembles various components, sub-assemblies into final assemblies; tensioners, snubbers, guides.  Inspects and prepares for shipment.

GENERAL DUTIES:

Assembles tensioners utilizing hand assembly and/or set up and operate various equipment (i.e., stake riveter, resistance welder, hydraulic press, multi-stage rotary indexing machines, etc.).  Performs visual and dimensional quality tests for conformity.  Completes SPC-required reports.  Assembles packing boxes, oils assemblies and packs for shipment.  Prepares timing systems for shipment.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

The Tensioner Assembler receives instructions from  supervisor.  Uses mathematical calculations involving decimals, semi-complicated gauging equipment (i.e., micrometers, verniers) and prepares SPC graphics.  Makes significant decisions based on established guidelines.  Performs work in accordance with several specific safety procedures.  Close visual effort required for extended periods.  Incumbent will keep work area in a neat and orderly fashion.

This position will adhere to Global Star Safety Program, including safety rules, practices and training as outlined in the BorgWarner Safety Policy Manual, which includes the use of equipment, protective devices, or clothing that the employer requires.  This individual will work in manners that stress the importance of preventing accidents and illnesses.  He/she must take every precaution reasonable in the given circumstance for the protection of themselves and coworkers.  In addition, he/she is responsible for reporting all injuries and/or possible dangerous situations, incidents, or occurrences to the immediate supervisor.
