Subsurface Scientist

The Opportunity:  
Immerse yourself in cutting-edge technologies while serving as a subsurface scientist for our energy clients. As a Subsurface Scientist on our team, you will support the development of new technologies for subsurface resource extraction by providing advice and guidance on the design, evaluation, and management of government and private-sector-sponsored Research and Development (R&D) programs. Your insights will also help inform our clients about emerging technology needs. You will engage and collaborate with a group of technology experts to leverage rapidly maturing technologies from other sectors to further energy technology development. You Have:  

  • 5+ years of experience authoring technical papers, reports, or program plans for technical and non-technical audiences on research pertaining to subsurface resource extraction 

  • 2+ years of experience with mining, drilling, well completion, flow in porous media, reservoir stimulation, reservoir analysis, petroleum geology, structural geology, geophysics, geochemistry, rock characterization, or mineralogy 

  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements

  • Doctorate degree in a Physical Science or Engineering field

  • Ability to demonstrate creativity and resourcefulness when facing uncertainty and ask insightful questions that challenge traditional thinking  

  • Possession of excellent communication, organizational, client service, and analytical skills

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
