Environmental Biologist

The Opportunity:

Support the execution of a space launch infrastructure roadmap to meet the client’s vision. Assess the impact of space port modernization projects on organisms and their environment, assessing impacts on ecosystems, and advise on conservation or remediation strategies. Analyze data to monitor pollution, protect biodiversity, and ensure regulatory compliance. Apply advanced skills, extensive technical expertise, and full industry knowledge, and develop innovative solutions to complex problems. Lead, participate, facilitate, and communicate with the team and client on all critical stages of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process by evaluating potential damage from development projects and creating mitigation plans. Ensure projects adhere to local, state, and federal laws, such as NEPA. Advise stakeholders, government agencies, businesses, and nonprofits on environmental hazards, waste management, and habitat restoration. Oversee and manage preparation of administrative records, and prepare and monitor schedules, milestones, workload projections, and staffing needs to meet client requirements.

You Have:

  • 4+ years of experience in an environmental consulting, field biology, or environmental science role

  • Experience with federal agency environmental impact analyses, policies, principles, and application technologies, and conducting studies and analyses on new and emerging environmental biological assessment issues, challenges, technologies, and concerns

  • Experience with CA-specific environmental laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and technologies affecting federal agency activities and operations

  • Knowledge of environmental sampling techniques and data analysis methods

  • Knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and executive orders, laws, regulations, and policies throughout the NEPA process

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or Ecology

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience in regional species identification, specifically threatened and endangered species of the area of Lompoc, CA

  • Experience with Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments

  • Experience with stakeholder engagement, including working with NGOs, community partners, and decision-makers 

  • Ability to think critically as a project lead, multitask, and work closely with a team to execute project activities under strict timelines or deadlines

  • Ability to write, edit, and format complex documents using Microsoft Word

  • Ability to use SharePoint and Microsoft Teams in a collaborative environment

  • Ability to analyze situations and make well informed decisions

  • Possession of excellent written and verbal communication skills

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $61,900.00 to $141,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
