About this role

About Us: At Booking.com, data drives our decisions. Technology is at our core and innovation is everywhere. But our company is more than datasets, lines of code or A/B tests. We’re the thrill of the first night in a new place. The excitement of the following morning. The friends you make. The journeys you take. The sights you see. And the food you sample. Through our products, partners and people, we can empower everyone to experience the world.

Machine Learning and AI are integral to Booking.com's mission of making it easier for everyone to experience the world. In the Marketplace Data & AI department, we’re on a mission to enable a personalized, trusted traveler and partner experience using ML and AI.

Role Description:

In order to achieve this mission, we build state-of-the-art systems and platforms like the AI Application Platform. We’re hiring a Senior Product Manager to lead the Platform Foundations team that contributes to this platform. The team’s mission is to provide a robust self-service foundation that enables teams to build and manage the end-to-end lifecycle of AI applications. Product teams can then focus on solving real traveler and partner needs, while the platform offers sophisticated management, control, and steering capabilities.

As a Senior Product Manager in this team, you will lead the strategy, long-term vision, and success definition of Platform Foundations products. You’ll partner with product teams across the company to help realize your team’s vision and grow value for our customers and businesses.

What is the AI Application Platform?

The AI Application Platform operates at the forefront of AI technology at Booking.com. It enables product teams across the company to rapidly adopt and accelerate innovative uses of AI at Booking.com scale. The platform offers a suite of products that have been successfully deployed, and that make it easier for Booking.com users to experience the world every day.

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Own and lead the Platform Foundations team’s vision, mission, roadmap, and end‑to‑end execution, partnering closely with software engineers and ML scientists.

  • Envision compelling self-service capabilities from discovery and design through to launch and documentation, with the mission of helping teams to independently build and manage the end-to-end lifecycle of AI applications.

  • Shape and evolve the multi-year product strategy in response to company-wide priorities, changing business needs, technical constraints, and new opportunities.

  • Prioritize and plan delivery together with your engineering counterpart, turning the backlog into a clear, sequenced plan that balances short‑term wins with long‑term bets.

  • Define and own success metrics for platform adoption and health. Clearly communicate progress, impact, and trade‑offs to stakeholders and senior leadership.

  • Drive adoption of key products across the company, partnering with target user groups to onboard use cases, deprecate legacy solutions, and prove impact through outcomes.

  • Contribute to standards for AI application protocols, governance and safety to ensure that the platform’s capabilities can be used responsibly and at scale.

  • Manage technical debt deliberately, helping the team decide where to invest for robustness, reliability, and scalability versus where to move fast.

  • Deeply understand customer problems and business strategy, translating fragmented requirements into a coherent roadmap and making tough prioritization calls.

  • Build cross‑functional partnerships, working closely with engineers, MLSs, other PMs, and product teams to ship high‑quality, reusable platform capabilities.

Role Qualifications and Requirements:

  • At least 6 years of product management experience, owning products or platforms with meaningful scale and complexity.

  • Track record of driving multi‑year roadmaps for shared platforms, addressing technical debt, and balancing rapid delivery with long‑term platform health.

  • Experience in enterprise self-service products across multiple teams, ideally focused on AI/ML management portals, control planes, or similar products.

  • Experience in platform adoption, partnering with multiple teams to move from legacy stacks to shared capabilities without disrupting critical customer experiences.

  • Experience building optimization systems, iterating on goals and policies, integrating with experimentation, and using data to maximize business impact over time.

  • Understanding of multiple AI domains (e.g., recommendation ML, agentic AI), productionization approaches, and tradeoffs between market-leading platforms.

  • Strong systems thinking and abstraction skills, able to turn scattered requests and use cases into clear, reusable capabilities and APIs.

  • Excellent communication skills, capable of turning complex technical concepts into simple, compelling narratives for engineers, scientists, and business leaders.

  • Skilled stakeholder management skills, which include aligning diverse teams, handling conflicting priorities, and building buy‑in across the organization.

  • Able to zoom in and out from a 10,000‑ft strategy view to detailed ground‑level execution details, as needed.

  • Team player with a bottom-up ideation process

Benefits & Perks: Global Impact, Personal Relevance

  • Annual paid time off and generous paid leave scheme including: parental (22-weeks paid leave), grandparent, bereavement, and care leave

  • Hybrid working including flexible working arrangements, working from home furniture and ergonomic support, and up to 20 days per year working from abroad (home country)

  • A beautiful sustainable HQ Campus in Amsterdam, that offers on-site meals, coffee, and snacks, multi-faith and breastfeeding rooms at the office
