JOB TITLE: Crane Operator

REPORTS TO: Shift Facilitator

SHIFT DAYS /HOURS:  (Mon-Fri) 5:00 am- 1:00 pm. Must be willing and able to work Mandatory OT on off days as necessary. 

 

What You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Maintain safety (including housekeeping), quality, and productivity to meet daily goals 

  • Communicate with other Crane Operators, Racking Team Leader, Un-racking Team Leader, Team Members, and Special Ops Department to maximize productivity and prioritize availability 

  • Acute attention to crane and affected work areas 

  • Manage carrier flow throughout shift 

  • Complete operation and mechanical inspections on crane and report/document any issues 

  • Dry parts as needed 

  • Maintain carrier flow between hold/overflow area, dryer, racking, strip line tank, un-racking area, and Special Ops by balancing availability and demand 

  • Etch and rinse carriers both empties and rework to predetermined specifications 

 

Work Environment / Physical Demands: 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.

  • The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. 

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and always without air conditioning. 

 

What You Will Need: 

  • Pass all certifications, training, testing, and qualification requirements. 

  • Communicate verbally and in written text with Supervisors, Team Lead, and Team Members 

  • Operate all tools and equipment used in the crane operation process 

  • Simple arithmetic required (calculating load weights against crane restrictions, counting, adding, and multiplying piece counts) 

  • Distinguish safe stable loads from unsafe ones 

  • Understand and follow CRANE OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 

  • Adjust plans as needed and required 

  • Assist in training of employees (in direct coordination with Leads, Supervisors, and Qualification Training Guides) 

  • Basic understanding of strip line, un-racking and racking requirements 

  • Medium to heavy physical demand, frequent lifting, carrying parts, stooping, kneeling, balancing, reaching, standing, and walking for extended periods of time. Repetitive hand/wrist and arm movement is required. Must have an acute awareness of conditions and hazards associated with the job 

  • Must be able to lift parts up to 50lbs, and less frequently, parts up to 100lbs with help. Constant lifting in the 1-20lb range 

  • Must move from area to area of crane operation as instructed by supervisor and may require other duties as assigned by Supervisor

  • Must pass a company background check and drug screen.
