About this role

Bonnell Aluminum is seeking a Production Controls Supervisor. This role will plan, direct, and coordinate the activities and resources of Metal Movers to ensure efficient workflow and material movement within or between departments according to the production schedule. Responsibilities include reviewing the master production schedule and work orders, directing the team based on established priorities and the availability or capability of personnel, materials, machinery, and equipment. Additional duties involve distributing production and shipment schedules, collaborating with department supervisors to monitor progress and completion dates, and compiling reports regarding work progress, inventory levels, and any production issues.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and responsibilities:

  • Distribute production schedules or work orders to departments.

  • Review documents, such as production schedules, work orders, or staffing tables, to determine personnel or materials requirements or material priorities.

  • Requisition and maintain inventories of materials or supplies necessary to meet production demands.

  • Arrange for delivery, assembly, or distribution of supplies or parts to expedite flow of materials and meet production schedules.

  • Direct Metal Movers and other personnel to assess progress and discuss needed changes.

  • Revise production schedules when required due to design changes, labor or material shortages, backlogs, or other interruptions, collaborating with management, marketing, sales, production or engineering.

  • Examine documents, materials or products and monitor work processes to assess completeness, accuracy and conformance to standards and specifications.

  • Record production data, including volume produced consumption of raw materials or quality control measures.

 

Knowledge/ Competencies:

  • Production and Processing- knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

  • Guiding, Directing and Motivating Subordinates- Providing guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.

  • Making Decisions and Solving Problems- Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

  • Computer Skills- Knowledge and use of database software, Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, and Electronic Email (Microsoft Outlook).

  • Decision making skills- Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution.

  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems- such as word processing and managing files and records.

  • Processing information- compiling categorizing, calculating tabulating, auditing, or verifying information or data. Attention to detail and accuracy

  • Documenting/ Recording Information- Entering, transcribing, recording, storing or maintaining information in written or electronic form.

  • Problem Solving- the individual identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully. 

  • Interpersonal Skills- the individual maintains confidentiality, remains open to others ideas and exhibits and willingness to try new things. Must have ability to work as part of a team.

  • Oral Communication- the individual speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations. 

  • Written Communication- the individual edits work for spelling, grammar, presents numerical data effectively and is able to read and interpret written information.

  • Planning/ organizing- the individual prioritizes, plans, and monitors work activities including the work of others in order to successfully complete meet work requirements. Individual uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans. Individual must have strong organizational skills and time management skills. Individual must have a complete understanding of operation and productivity expectations.

  • Quality Control- the individual demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality.

  • Adaptability- the individual adapts to changes in the work environment manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.

  • Safety and security- the individual actively promotes and personally observes safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly.

 

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers. This position will require in on the plant floor and exposure to shop elements such as noise; moving parts, handling of aluminum extruded parts, dust and fumes.

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. 

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stoop as necessary. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, as well as aluminum extruded parts. 

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out of the area and overnight travel may be expected.

 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred or equivalent work/education

  • Previous work experience and knowledge of Anodizing Plant

  • Knowledge of quality system requirements

  • Knowledge of ISO 9000 (regulatory) requirements

  • Knowledge and use of database software, Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Email (Microsoft Outlook).
