About this role

Scope:

 

  • Define and carry out test plans and material investigations using specialist testing and analytical methods. 
  • Recommend appropriate actions to deliver robust problem resolution activities within the specified discipline.  
  • Provide specialist materials technical support and knowledge to all relevant TWA process partners. 
  • Determine the severity of problems and prioritise actions in the context of the overall business implications. 
  • Execute technical process control of materials-related production processes.  
  • Approve materials, components and processes for use in production to ensure that materials technology and related production processes all adhere to BMW Group policies, requirements, procedures and guidelines. 
  • Complete all work in accordance with ItO.02.04.05 process, TI-3 procedures, relevant Group Standards and TI-34 risk assessments. 
  • Responsible for planning procurement, owning and organising the service and calibration of specialist equipment. 
  • Support the development of containment solutions and take a leading role in the elimination of materials related problems. 
  • Ensure the continuous improvement of processes and working practices, including evaluation of current laboratory practices, procedures and equipment. 
  • Apply extensive knowledge in appropriate materials and processing technologies, testing and analysis techniques. 
  • Demonstrate a good level of problem solving and use of quality tools. 
  • Determine problem root cause and drive appropriate recommendations for robust resolution within problem resolution teams. 
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills at all levels. 
  • Demonstrate teamwork, flexibility, team leadership and coaching skills. 

 

 

Requirements:

  • Demonstrate an excellent level of problem solving and use of quality tools.

  • Demonstrate high degree of technical autonomy and decision making
  • Proven 2 years experience in a laboratory environment .  
  • Proven experience in automotive production. 
  • High degree of self-motivation and reliability. 
  • Capable of working alone or in a multi-functional team.
  • Proven Knowledge in Paint Shop process. E-coat/KTL, BC1, BC2 and CC (IPP process).
  • Experience in data interpretation, report writing, and communication of technical results to cross-functional teams.
  • Proven knowledge and hands-on experience with Laboratory analysis equipment, including but not limited to:
    • Surface and Optical Analysis:  Spectrophotometers, Wavescan, Cloud Runner systems, colorimetric analysis instruments.
    • Environmental Testing Chambers: Hydrothermal chambers, ovens, corrosion chambers and climate simulation equipment for accelerated aging.

Education: 

  • BTech / Diploma in Chemical Engineering, Materials/Mechanical Engineering or Chemistry.
  • Valid driving license.
