Introduction
At Bluegrass, we’re looking for a highly experienced Salesforce Architect / Senior Salesforce Developer to own the technical vision, architecture, and delivery of our Salesforce platform.
This is a senior, hands-on role with real influence. You’ll combine deep technical expertise with architectural leadership, working closely with stakeholders and senior leadership to design, build, and scale Salesforce solutions that directly support business strategy.
You’ll lead the full application lifecycle from discovery and design through development, testing, deployment, and optimisation while championing best practices across architecture, DevOps, quality, security, and compliance. This role suits someone who thrives in complex, regulated environments, takes full ownership, and enjoys mentoring others while delivering rock-solid solutions.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Analysis & Planning (±20%)
- Collaborate across the full application lifecycle: planning, design, development, deployment, and maintenance.
- Partner with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Research and evaluate new Salesforce features and technologies to continuously improve development efficiency.
- Design well-structured, reusable, and maintainable application architectures.
- Provide accurate estimates, contribute to requirement documentation, and assist with work breakdown structures.
- Participate in user story creation, estimation, and delivery planning.
- Prioritise work effectively, manage dependencies, and adapt quickly to shifting requirements.
- Proactively identify and mitigate technical and code-level risks.
- Track tasks, progress, and delivery via JIRA.
- Define, own, and evolve the long-term technical vision and Salesforce roadmap in alignment with business and IT strategy.
- Act as the design authority for all Salesforce initiatives, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, high-performing, and maintainable.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to plan and execute system design roadmaps.
- Evaluate and recommend Salesforce features, AppExchange products, and integrated technologies to drive innovation and efficiency.
- Ensure Salesforce architecture aligns with the broader enterprise IT landscape and best-practice standards.
- Design and develop high-quality Salesforce solutions aligned to project plans, timelines, and coding standards.
- Build maintainable, reusable code using Salesforce best practices.
- Use version control effectively and in line with company standards.
- Prepare and maintain testing environments, documentation, and examples.
- Perform initial testing and contribute to test strategy and planning.
- Implement and maintain automated testing and component libraries.
- Diagnose system issues, identify root causes, and implement permanent fixes.
- Deliver fully tested, performance-benchmarked solutions that meet functional and non-functional requirements.
- Deploy changes to production following established release processes.
- Implement and maintain DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code where applicable.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date technical and system documentation.
- Deliver solutions that meet regulatory, quality, and security standards (e.g. FDA, CE, ISO, SOC 2).
- Apply Quality Management System (QMS) processes across development and testing activities.
- Ensure testing adheres to defined specifications and documentation standards.
- Safeguard data and information in line with company policies.
- Maintain up-to-date supporting documentation and audit-ready artefacts.
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Salesforce Architect Certification (System, Application, or Technical)
- 7+ years of hands-on Salesforce experience
- Proven delivery on small to medium Salesforce implementations
- Strong experience with project implementation management and documentation
- Expertise in CI/CD pipelines and continuous deployment to Salesforce
- Deep experience with the Salesforce development toolkit
- Advanced development using Apex, Triggers, Visualforce, Lightning Components, and REST/SOAP APIs
