About this role

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is looking to add to our Enterprise System Services team and has an opportunity for an Infrastructure Administrator. This position delivers enterprise reporting, analytics, and automation solutions that improve operational visibility and streamline business processes. The position develops and supports SSRS and Power BI reports and dashboards, advanced SQL queries, and IBM Business Automation solutions (BAI, BAW, Case Analyzer) to provide actionable insights into performance and workflow efficiency. Working closely with business and IT partners, the role translates requirements into secure, scalable, and well-governed solutions aligned with enterprise architecture standards, while supporting SDLC activities, documentation, and production operations.

Compensation

These positions can be hired at either Infrastructure Administrator or System Administrator, based on education, skills and experience.

Infrastructure Administrator

$82,480 - $103,100

Exempt Grade IT&S 15

System Administrator

$94,400 - $118,000

What you’ll do

  • Develop and maintain SSRS and Power BI reports and dashboards.
  • Convert existing SSRS reports into Power BI/BIA dashboards and reports to enhance data visualization, interactivity, and overall visibility for internal clients.
  • Build and optimize SQL queries, views, and datasets to support reporting needs.
  • Support IBM Business Automation workflows and analytics under guidance.
  • Partner with business users to gather requirements, clarify KPIs, validate data accuracy and usability across reporting solutions.
  • Create complex SQL queries, views, and stored procedures to extract and transform data and prepare data for reporting and analytics.
  • Utilize IBM Data Studio and Visual Studio related tools for query optimization, database performance tuning, and data validation.
  • Implement and enforce data governance, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and security across all automation, analytics, and reporting platforms.
  • Participate in SDLC activities, testing, documentation, and production support.
  • Maintain a knowledge repository documenting data sources, business rules, and processing methodologies.
  • Provide mentorship, training, and assistance to colleagues to foster a culture of continuous improvement and self-service analytics. 
  • Maintain system performance by performing regular and critical maintenance tasks within defined service levels.
  • Participate in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Analyze and resolve issues and problems. Drive efforts to find root cause as part of problem management. Maintaining architecture documentation and diagrams. Design and understand application architecture.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation that requires after-hours and weekend support for production outages and issues.
  • Participate in design and code review discussions.
  • As the role evolves, responsibilities may expand to support workflow and automation capabilities aligned with enterprise content services.

What you need

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Infrastructure Administrator: Minimum of two years’ experience in I.T. and/or application development required.
  • System Administrator: Minimum of five years' experience in I.T. and/or application development required. 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong proficiency in SQL with experience accessing and querying various corporate and disparate data sources for analysis and reporting.
  • Hands-on experience with reporting and visualization tools, including SSRS, Power BI, and other related platforms.
  • Demonstrated understanding of business process design, process mapping, and end-to-end workflows, with the ability to translate business processes into reporting, analytics, and automation solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to addressing data management challenges, including data quality, data profiling, and other related issues.
  • Project management skills with a demonstrated ability to complete small to medium-sized projects successfully.
  • Experience with user training, documentation, and supporting adoption of Enterprise solutions across business teams.
  • Knowledge of data governance, data security, and compliance best practices.
  • Computer system problem solving and performance tuning.
  • Exposure to Agile/Scrum environments and DevOps practices.
  • Experience working with operational data in the Health Care Industry and a solid understanding of regulatory requirements related to health care data. (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of REST APIs, JavaScript, or Java for extending workflow capabilities. 
  • data gateways and pipelines for integrating and securely transferring data, ensuring seamless connectivity between on-premises and cloud-based data sources.
  • Knowledge of data visualization best practices, dashboard design principles, and storytelling with data.

Bonus if you have

  • Bachelor's degree or completion of a Computer Science Program from a Technical Trade School preferred. Technical training with certification in assigned technology is required as applicable. 
  • Demonstrated experience in managing assigned technologies by performing regular maintenance tasks, including updates, monitoring, and troubleshooting, within defined service levels. Preferred experience with technologies such as Python, SSRS, Visual Studio (.NET/C#), Power BI, Tableau, SQL, SSIS, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), GitLab, and data integration frameworks.
