FUNCTION AND SCOPE
To develop, promote, provide, and maintain a full time safety, environmental, and assist in the health program at Blendtec. Responsible for all coordination and implementation of new safety and environmental health programs to ensure compliance with regulatory agency guidelines and institutional policies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state and local legislation and codes governing
Ensures OSHA record keeping and requirements are being met.
Works with all Blendtec personnel including Management to formulate corrective actions.
Develops policies and procedures and work with management to get them implemented.
Assesses risk hazard analysis and assessments.
Oversees the regular maintenance checks and upkeep of all safety tools and equipment; fire extinguishers, fire exit signs, routine safety check of all areas, eyewash stations, safety glass stations, etc.
Coordinate and maintain a regular safety training program for each individual area needed; forklift training, OSHA training, electrical hazards training, LO/TO training, PPE training, fall restraint training, etc.
Conducts on-site inspections and reviews of overall plant safety, to log and make available for review.
Obtain, monitor, and manage a full MSDS log plant wide.
Responds and assist with all emergency situations.
Manage and Maintain on-site first responders including training.
Order safety gear, tools, and equipment.
Develop objectives and targets for departmental personnel.
Develop and maintain company safety, environmental, and health procedures.
Provide guidance and leadership over a safety committee.
Provides training and drills for all areas of the company such as; fire alarms, earthquake drills, emergency egress, contingencies, etc.
Provide and maintain an ergonomics awareness and training.
File claims with Worker’s compensation.
Performs other related duties and tasks, as required.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in safety engineering or related field or three (3) years’ experience in an industrial company with occupational safety responsibilities required. A comparable combination of education and experience in an industrial company will be considered.
A good understanding of manufacturing processes.
Must be able to communicate with workers and mangers on a regular basis. Any previous coordinating and instructing training courses will be a plus. Any OSHA certificates are plus.
May be required to attend outside training.

Periodic travel may be required.
