About the role

We are seeking a passionate and proactive Commercial Business Information Officer to support a broader team in ensuring that the Council’s investment in housing delivers strong value for money, robust financial control and high-performing contractual arrangements. Working with the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for the continued development and provision of a comprehensive management information service to various levels of staff within the directorate.

This role sits at the heart of housing delivery, working closely with Finance, Procurement and operational teams to strengthen commercial discipline and supplier performance across the supply chain.

This role is hybrid working and you could be working from offices across the city. 

What you'll be doing

  • Assisting in the management of revenue and capital budgets for Asset Management, developing and preparing associated commercial & budget management reports.
  • Attending performance related Commercial Meetings to present data as required.
  • Responsible for the interpretation of regular and ad-hoc information requests using appropriate information systems, analysis of their feasibility and the development of output reports - maintaining appropriate audit trails.
  • Providing advice, guidance and assistance as appropriate to managers and staff on availability and delivery of data. 
  • Ensuring that information held on management systems is accurate and up to date.
  • Responsible for the extraction, collation, validation and submission of information within agreed timescales - involving regular contact with staff from other directorates, Contractors and other sections within the directorate.
  • Documenting all processes and procedures relating to the production of standard reports and maintaining records as necessary. 

About you

You will be a confident commercial professional with strong financial acumen and rigorous attention to detail.

You Will Have:

  • Experience in a commercial, financial or construction-related discipline.
  • Ability to manage your own workload, reprioritising as necessary to meet the needs of the service.
  • Understanding of the construction, maintenance and housing services market.
  • Ability to apply data analysis and statistical techniques to large and complex data sets. 
  • Ability to extract and present complex financial / contractual information clearly to a range of audiences.
  • Strong IT skills (particularly Excel, SharePoint, Power BI, Teams) and commitment to use of technology and AI tools to help meet service objectives.
