About the role:

Join the Corporate Communications Team of BioNTech and support the growth of BioNTech in China. The Corporate Communications division of BioNTech is responsible for shaping and managing the company’s global communication strategy, building its reputation, and ensuring transparent, aligned messaging across all regions. We lead media relations, corporate storytelling, executive communications, external affairs, employee communications and corporate identity.

The role in China will lead on all strategic communications through connecting corporate and R&D milestones as well as our pioneering science to external and internal audiences. You will enhance our corporate profile in China and contribute to creating memorable, mission-driven experiences that strengthen internal engagement, support external relationships, and position BioNTech as a global innovation leader in the pharmaceutical field.

 

Your main responsibilities are:

In this role, you will work closely with the global corporate communications team and the local leadership team to: 

  • Sharpen BioNTech’s profile in China 

  • Develop and execute end-to-end communications strategies, messaging and communications planning for China aligned to the objectives of BioNTech’s global business 

  • Establish and build strong relationships with journalists and other stakeholders in China 

  • Elevate BioNTech’s profile, innovations and oncology pipeline in China by delivering effective multi-channel campaigns 

  • Shape the company’s digital presence, including website content and work on content for social media platforms and online campaigns tailored to the Chinese audience 

  • Be a point of contact for China-related topics, including collaborators in China as well as BioNTech’s leadership team for external speaking and media opportunities, including media readiness and preparation 

  • Coordinate preparation for potential local crisis communications efforts, ensuring timely and effective responses to issues that may occur 

  • Grow an internal network to drive the collaborative work across the region-specific communications team, addressing executive messages at town halls, leader meetings, organizational change communications and press conferences 

 

A good match:

  • The Director will have experience and a proven track record in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry, with a strong background in medical and scientific communications, public relations and strategic communication. 
  • Extensive experience in corporate communications in the pharmaceutical, healthcare or biotechnology industry, with a profound understanding of the industry, healthcare policies, regulatory environment and stakeholders in China 

  • Proven track record in media relations and strategic communications 

  • Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders 

  • Experience in social media platforms and management tools for the Chinese market, including paid social media campaigns 

  • Experience in protocol-conform, high-profile events is advantageous 

  • Collaborative team player with strong communication skills who enjoys working with cross-functional teams 

  • Proactive, hands-on mentality with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, highly regulated and competitive environment  

  • Reliable, rigorous and comfortable delivering under time pressure 

  • Business fluent in Mandarin and English both written and spoken
