About this role

We are looking for an intern who can start work in February with an anticipated length of around 3-months.


The Cybersecurity Intern will support the Information Security program with foundational security operations and governance activities. This role is designed for a student or early-career professional seeking hands-on experience in enterprise cybersecurity practices, including asset management, security controls documentation, vulnerability remediation, and system security posture validation. 


The intern will work closely with BioAgilytix IT teams to help ensure systems and accounts are accurately documented, secured, and aligned with security standards and best practices.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Cross-check assets and software records against multiple source systems (CMDBs, cloud console exports, endpoint tools) 
  • Support updates to security control documentation (e.g., policies, standards, procedures, control mappings) 
  • Ensure documentation reflects current technical and operational practices 
  • Assist in reviewing vulnerability scan results from security tools 
  • Help track remediation efforts and validate that fixes have been applied 
  • Work with system owners to verify patching, configuration changes, or compensating controls 
  • Cross-check system security posture against defined baselines and standards 
  • Validate configurations across endpoints, servers, cloud resources, and SaaS platforms 
  • Help identify gaps, inconsistencies, or drift from approved security configurations 
  • Assist with audits, assessments, and evidence collection 
  • Participate in security team meetings and operational reviews 
  • Perform other security-related tasks as assigned 


Additional Responsibilities
  • At all times, protect the security and integrity of company systems
  • Other duties as needed


Minimum Acceptable Qualifications: Education/Experience
  • Currently enrolled in a degree or training program in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field 
  • Knowledge of computing hardware, software, voice/data cabling, networking protocols, printer management, and desktop implementation/support
  • Knowledge of the Windows desktop operating system environment (Windows 10, Windows 11) as well as PC applications (such as Word, Excel, and Outlook) is required
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts (e.g., risks, threats, controls, vulnerabilities, patching, least privilege, asset management)

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people in a professional manner, face to face, on the telephone and in writing
  • Ability to take direction and follow standard operating procedures and best practices
  • Ability to plan and prioritize work without supervision
  • Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work within constantly changing priorities
  • Acute attention to details
  • Ability to demonstrate practical troubleshooting and problem analysis techniques
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills


Working Environment
  •        Primarily office
  •        Occasional laboratory/clinical environment
  •        Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
  • This is a full OR part time position
  • Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the "core" work hours as published in the BioAgiIytix Employee Handbook
  • Occasional weekend, holiday, and evening work may be offered
