Site Environmental Technician
37.5 hours per week
The main purpose of the Site Environmental Technician is to carry out environmental management and control works in a safe and efficient manner under direct and indirect instruction by the site/operations manager. You will also carry out environmental monitoring and associated reporting of the leachate plant and leachate field to the site manager and to carry out associated tasks to ensure the efficient, compliant running of site infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
· High Regard for health and safety, completing near miss reports as required, compliance with procedures and environmental compliance in accordance with the site's permits
· In depth technical knowledge for treatment facilities.
· Daily sampling and analysis of the LTP lagoons for set parameters. Report any non- conformances immediately.
· Record various flow meter readings with appropriate comments.
· Check and carry out maintenance of pump systems, dosing systems, heat exchanger, blowers etc. Report with appropriate comments. Defects to be reported as soon as possible to the OM/SM/Environmental Control Advisor (ECA).
· Carry out specified weekly tasks at the leachate plant such as cleaning the lamelia plates/tanks, running the emergency shower, checking filters, defects require reporting immediately
· Complete sampling, dipping and flow meter readings of the leachate field including flow lines. as directed by the OM/SM/ECA, reporting any defects immediately. Carry out repairs if possible and when safe to do so.
· Leachate SCADA control with communication and coordination with the OM/SM/ECA.
· Carry out daily meetings with the OM/ECA to coordinate activities.
Essential criteria for this role:
· Landfill operational or environmental experience
· Management of leachate treatment facilities
· Ability to understand numerical data
· Significant relevant experience in waste or environmental capacity
