Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Baptist Health Louisville team during a period of rapid expansion. Our 30+ bed Observation Unit supports both the Emergency Department and telemetry units by caring for low‑acuity patients who require a short period of additional evaluation before determining whether admission to a telemetry unit is necessary. This fast‑paced environment offers excellent nurse‑to‑patient ratios and is an ideal fit for nurses with backgrounds in Telemetry, Emergency Department, ICU/CCU, and similar acute‑care settings.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The following summarizes the major functions of this position. Responsibilities may evolve as professional practice standards advance.

  • Performs comprehensive assessments and reassessments to guide patient care.

  • Develops individualized plans of care using evidence‑based standards.

  • Provides care aligned with policies, procedures, and professional nursing standards, as well as Baptist Health Louisville’s mission, vision, values, and model of care.

  • Evaluates patient responses to treatment and adjusts care accordingly.

  • Applies strong critical thinking, clinical reasoning, organizational, and leadership skills in all aspects of care delivery.

Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required

  • Active Kentucky RN License

  • BCLS

  • ACLS
