At Beyond Energy Services & Technology (BEST), we’re redefining what Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) excellence looks like in the Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) sector. We’re seeking a dynamic, hands-on HSE Advisor to join our U.S. operations—someone who can confidently lead safety initiatives in the field, support complex and high-risk projects, and shape strategic HSE programs that strengthen our culture.
This isn’t your average safety role. The HSE Advisor is a key driver of operational excellence across our MPD service locations in the USA, acting as both a trusted field leader and a strategic partner. This position ensures compliance with U.S. HSE legislation while meeting internal standards and client requirements. As a subject matter expert in regulatory affairs, audit readiness, safe work practices, and incident management, you’ll play a vital role in fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and proactive risk management across the region.
Key Responsibilities
Operational HSE Leadership
- Act as the regional HSE lead for MPD operations, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient execution of all activities.
- Champion Beyond’s safety culture through strong field presence, leadership, and engagement with operations teams.
Regulatory Compliance
- Conduct internal on-site HSE audits to ensure compliance, drive continuous improvement, and ensure readiness for client, regulatory (OSHA, ISO 45001), and third-party inspections.
- Interpret and implement federal, state, and local HSE regulations with a focus on continuous improvement and risk mitigation.
- Ensure all HSE documentation and programs are current, readily accessible, and fully aligned with client requirements and industry best practices.
Incident Management & Risk Mitigation
- Lead incident investigations, including root cause analysis, formal reporting, and ensure timely and effective corrective action plans.
- Develop, document, and disseminate lessons learned from incidents and near misses across U.S. operations.
- Coordinate and manage modified work programs in accordance with regulatory and internal policies.
Client Interface
- Oversee compliance and performance; conduct on-site verifications and align expectations with client standards.
- Participate in pre-job planning and client audits, representing BEST’s commitment to safety excellence.
- Conduct routine worksite verifications to confirm safe work practices, hazard controls, and contractor performance.
- Collaborate closely with Operations and QHSE teams to maintain alignment with client HSE expectations and deliverables.
HSE Program Development & Implementation
- Support the QHSE team in the design, rollout, and monitoring of company-wide HSE improvement initiatives.
- Provide dedicated HSE oversight during high-risk or critical MPD projects to ensure safe execution and regulatory compliance.
Field Engagement & Training
- Conduct regular field inspections to assess compliance with hazard controls, HSE documentation standards, and procedural requirements.
- Lead and facilitate weekly safety meetings and monthly performance reviews in partnership with operational leadership.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and support to supervisors, employees, and contractors regarding legislative changes, corporate HSE procedures, and client expectations.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Operations and Sales teams to support client engagements, HSE audits, and project readiness activities.
- Maintain transparent and proactive communication with HSE Management and Operations leadership on emerging trends, concerns, and compliance matters.
- Champion a culture of safety built on accountability, trust, and leadership reflecting Beyond Energy's core values.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) experience in the oil and gas industry; experience in Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. safety regulations and industry best practices(OSHA, EPA,)
- Demonstrated experience in conducting field-level inspections, regulatory audits, and managing contractor compliance programs.
- Associate degree in Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment.
- Highly organized, analytical, and capable of working independently.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Possession of a valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Current certifications in:
- OSHA 30-Hour (General Industry or Construction)
- H2S Safety Training (ANSI Z390.1-compliant, e.g., H2S Alive or H2S Clear)
- Standard First Aid and CPR/AED (American Heart Association or equivalent)
- Willing and able to travel up to 25%, including to field and remote operational sites as required.
Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong ability to conduct and coach others on hazards identification and risk control.
- Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks across different sites with minimal supervision.
- Experience in coordinating or contributing to project readiness plans, HSE mobilizations and safety reviews.
- Comfortable working in dynamic field environments, including remote locations and variable schedules.
- Process safety management and implementation experience.
- Technically proficient in Microsoft 365 and HSE management systems. Analytical thinker with a proactive, hands-on approach to solving problems.
Work Environment:
- Must be comfortable working in field environments, including exposure to varying weather conditions and extended work hours during peak operations.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- This position is based in our facility and travel to worksites is required.
