Job DetailsJob Location: PLANT 5 - Gastonia, NC 28052Note: This position is for 1st Shift with hours from 8:00AM to 4:00PM

Function:           The Material Handler directly supports the overall operations of the Plant 5 operations by moving fabric pieces, loading and unloading, and moving them to inspection or warehouse as needed.

Expectations:

Understand and comply with all company policies, standards, rules and regulations as documented in Employee Handbook and subsequent postings, notifications and training sessions
Maintain high level of housekeeping essential to the efficient processing of high-quality knit fabrics
Positive example to fellow employees

Safety:

Never place hands in area of moving parts of machinery or equipment.
Safety glasses, offering full eye protection must be worn when using compressed air for cleaning.
Air hoses must be returned to hangers, coiled on hanger or otherwise stationed so that there is no risk of trip hazard.
Any trip, slip and/or fall hazard must be eliminated immediately, even if the hazard exists in an area other than your immediate work area.
All associates with hair below their shoulders will have their hair pulled back in a ponytail or encased in a hair net.
Use safe lifting techniques.  Do not lift more than 75 pounds without assistance.
Get supervisor clearance before performing any operation that may result in injury.  BE SAFE!!

Job Specific Responsibilities:

Assure the proper material is being handled according to instructions.
Assure the machines and work areas are clean and organized.
Maintain high level of housekeeping at all times. 

Packaging materials must be organized.

Waste must be cleared from area immediately.

Floor swept and clean.

Adhere to break schedule and assure your break partner can handle the task effectively.
Move rolls and rolls on racks as requested by the team members.
Refill carts at the direction of the Inspectors.
Move completed fabrics to the next operator.
Make sure products remain in manageable quantities.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:

Physical abilities to stand, walk and kneel on concrete floors, climb ladders, and reach above head.
Must be able to tolerate exposure to lint, chemicals and heat in summer months.
Minimum education requirements include being able to read and write in English, read and understand instructions and explain problems.  The job requires frequent communications with mechanics, lead and support personnel.
Must comply with all safety, quality and production requirements and instructions.
Ability to learn and analyze.
Desire to contribute to the company’s continuous improvement process.
