About Bettermode

Bettermode is a fast-growing B2B SaaS platform that helps mid-market and enterprise companies build modern customer communities that drive engagement, advocacy, and retention. Backed by investors such as CRV and Bessemer, we’re scaling from $5M ARR toward $20M+ with a small, high-impact team of 30+.

We’re hiring a VP of Marketing to define and lead Bettermode’s marketing function. You will own positioning, product storytelling, and the brand foundation, and build the marketing function as we scale.


The Opportunity

This is a story-led, category-defining leadership role for someone who has built strong marketing foundations before and is intentionally choosing to do it again at an earlier stage company. You will shape how Bettermode is positioned, understood, and remembered in the market and build a marketing organization that scales with the business.

This is a hands-on role. You’ll build the story and ship the work, setting a weekly operating cadence across messaging, launches, enablement, and pipeline support. You’re as comfortable writing positioning and launching a new page today as you are presenting the strategy tomorrow.

This role reports directly to the CEO and works in close partnership with the CRO, Product, and Customer Experience leadership.


What You’ll Do

Brand, Positioning & Category Leadership

  • Define Bettermode’s positioning, narrative, and point of view
  • Clarify and strengthen the category we play in (and help shape it)
  • Build differentiated messaging for B2B marketers
  • Elevate storytelling across website and core messaging, product marketing and launches, sales enablement, thought leadership and content
  • Represent Bettermode in analyst, ecosystem, and category conversations
  • Establish and maintain a consistent voice and messaging system across channels

Product Marketing & Storytelling

  • Translate product capabilities into clear, compelling value propositions
  • Partner closely with Product on launches, roadmap storytelling, and market feedback
  • Develop strong customer stories, case studies, and proof points
  • Enable Sales and Customer Success with credible, effective narratives
  • Build enablement that maps to the buyer journey (what to say, when, and why it matters)
  • Drive launch execution with Product and Sales: lock the story, ship the assets, and ensure teams can sell it on day one

Marketing Team & Function Building

  • Design the marketing organization from the ground up
  • Hire, develop, and lead a high-quality marketing team over time
  • Effectively leverage contractors, agencies, and partners early on
  • Build leverage before scale and avoid over-hiring
  • Establish clear marketing systems, rituals, and standards
  • Define success metrics and a reporting cadence for marketing initiatives
  • Build the marketing operating system: priorities, metrics, and execution rhythm

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner closely with the CEO on vision, narrative, and strategy
  • Collaborate with the CRO to align marketing with revenue goals
  • Work with Product and Customer Experience to ensure tight GTM alignment
  • Act as a strong executive presence internally and externally



What You Bring

  • 10-12 years of B2B SaaS marketing experience, including strong brand and product marketing exposure, plus 1–3 years of team leadership
  • Proven experience scaling a company from ~25 to ~200 employees (early to growth stage)
  • Expertise across demand gen, product marketing, and brand, with depth in at least one
  • Experience in mid-market and low-enterprise B2B SaaS, ideally with PLG and sales-led motions
  • Hands-on, execution-driven operator who thrives in fast-moving startup environments
  • Exceptional communicator who can translate complex ideas into simple, compelling stories
  • Familiarity with the North American B2B SaaS market and customer-engagement ecosystem
  • Bonus: experience marketing a platform with an ecosystem (integrations, partners, or community-led growth)

  • Compensation Range: For this role is expected to exceed CA$200,000 annually.
