Summary


Administers medications as documented in the MAR.  Follows proper technique when administering medications and completes medication pass safely within the allotted time frame 100% of the time.  Documents appropriately and accurately all medications passed and follows established standards and guidelines of the nursing department. Maintains appropriate supplies and equipment on the medication carts and alerts charge nurse with the need for any supplies or medications in a timely manner.  Ensures that the medication cart remains locked and is properly stocked and cleaned at the beginning and end of each shift. Monitors residents’ responses to medication and reports observations to Charge Nurse.  Administers PRN medication with Charge Nurse approval.  Continues to monitor the residents' responses to the PRN medication throughout the assigned shift and reports any uncommon behaviors or side effects to the charge nurse. Works with Charge Nurse to reorder any medications that may be dropped, spilled, or wasted.  Works safely and uses proper procedures to minimize loss and ensure the protection of assigned residents. Successfully completes job duties as CMT by attending continuing education classes and in-services, accepting reassignments to other areas, taking on increased responsibilities, and keeping RN and LPN informed of pertinent information that may require follow-up. Interacts and maintains effective working relationships with team members, charge nurse, and department managers.  Maintains discretion in handling confidential information.  Gives report to charge nurse at the end of each shift and completes walking rounds with the oncoming or leaving shift. Answers residents' call lights and assists with resident ADL's as needed. May be assigned other duties as appropriate.


 


Qualifications



  • High school diploma preferred

  • Active Certified Nurse Assistant certification in the state you will be working

  • Certification as a Medication Technician in the state you will be working

  • Insulin certification required, or willing to obtain within six months of employment

  • CPR certification, or willing to obtain within six months of employment

  • Recent long-term care experience preferred

  • Excellent communication skills to interact verbally with patients, visitors, and staff

  • Ability to manage time and organize daily schedule to meet productivity standards

  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time

  • Ability to lift heavy object using proper lifting techniques and with assistance when necessary

  • Ability to transfer and move patients who vary with ability to assist weighing 200+lbs using proper lifting techniques and with assistance when necessary

  • Ability to push and pull equipment weighing in excess of 40lbs using proper techniques and with assistance when necessary

  • Manual dexterity, coordination and skillful use of hands when working with patients and equipment

  • Ability to physically perform necessary documentation in writing or use of tape recorder

  • Visual acuity with the ability to distinguish color


Pay Range: $16.08 - $25.24 per hour
