Job Description

The Tax Associate will play a crucial role in supporting the tax function within Colombia, ensuring compliance with all local tax regulations and contributing to the company's tax strategy.

 

This role requires a proactive individual with a solid understanding of Colombian tax law. Experience with Argentinian tax matters will be considered an advantage.

 

The Tax Associate for Colombia will be part of bet365's LATAM tax function, providing essential support for all tax compliance and advisory activities within the Colombian market. Key responsibilities include the accurate review / preparation and timely filing of various tax returns, such as income tax, VAT (IVA), and withholding taxes, as well as assisting with industry and commerce taxes and Colombian Magnetic Media, District Tax Filings, National Tax Reports. The Tax Associate will also play a part in managing tax audits and responding to queries from local tax authorities like the DIAN, ensuring all documentation is meticulously maintained. Furthermore, the role involves conducting tax research to support strategic decision-making and contributing to the implementation of tax policies. A solid understanding of Colombian tax law is paramount, and candidates with prior experience or knowledge of Argentinian tax regulations will be highly regarded, as this can contribute to the broader regional tax strategy. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented and proactive tax professional to grow within a leading global company.

Qualifications

  •  
  • Proficiency in accounting and tax expert.
  • Proven experience of at least 3 years in tax departments of multinational companies, demonstrating a strong understanding of corporate tax environments.
  • Ability to understand and draft in English, speaking is not mandatory.
  • Intermediate Excel proficiency.
  • Detail-oriented approach, a strong commitment to tasks, and a proactive mindset
  • Strong analytical abilities, good understanding of tax regulations (specifically Colombian, with Argentinian experience being a plus), and effective communication skills.

Additional Information

 

  • Prepare, review, and file of national and local Colombian tax returns and reports (e.g., income tax, VAT, withholding tax, industry and commerce tax, magnetic media).
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of tax obligations before the deadlines established by the Colombian Tax Authority.
  • Support the accurate calculation of tax liabilities and their impact on financial statements.
  • Assist in managing tax audits and queries from Colombian tax authorities (DIAN, local tax offices) and / or Statutory auditors.
  • Reconcile accounting records with tax filings to ensure consistency between financial statements and tax returns.
  • Maintain tax control schedules and support documentation and ensure compliance with record-keeping requirements.
  • Stay up to date with changes in Colombian tax legislation, decrees, DIAN rulings, and jurisprudence.
  • Prepare tax processes and documentation to reduce compliance risks.
  • Prepare internal tax reports, summaries, and dashboards for management.
