About this role

We are seeking a dependable, skilled, and forward-thinking Driver & Furniture Installer to join our team on a bank (zero-hour) basis, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate.

This role involves nationwide travel across the UK, including regular long-distance journeys and overnight stays. You will be responsible for the safe handling, delivery, assembly, and installation of high-quality furniture for Swan Hill customers.

This position requires someone who is confident driving long distances, physically capable of manual handling, and able to represent the company professionally at all times. You must be comfortable working independently as well as within a small team, using initiative and problem-solving skills to ensure every job is completed to an exceptional standard.

Key Responsibilities:Driving & Logistics
  • Safely operate company vehicles for nationwide travel.
  • Navigate efficiently and ensure timely arrival to customer sites.
  • Complete daily vehicle checks and report defects immediately.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and roadworthy vehicle.
Furniture Handling & Installation
  • Load, secure, transport, assemble, and install furniture to required standards.
  • Handle goods with care to avoid damage to furniture or customer property.
  • Work professionally and respectfully within customer environments.
Customer Service
  • Deliver excellent customer service during each installation.
  • Communicate clearly and politely with customers on arrival and completion.
  • Adapt installation methods to onsite requirements and ensure customer satisfaction.
Operational Support
  • Use company apps/phones for job updates, photos, PODs, and navigation.
  • Assist warehouse staff with loading/preparation when required.

Skills & Attributes:
  • Strong practical ability in assembling and installing furniture.
  • Competent, confident, and safe long-distance driver.
  • Self-sufficient, proactive, and able to think ahead.
  • Strong problem-solving ability with a smart, efficient working approach.
  • Caring, respectful, and customer-focused attitude.
  • Team player who can also work independently.
  • Physically fit and capable of heavy manual handling.
  • Good communication and time-management skills.

Experience & Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in furniture installation, removals, shopfitting, or similar.
  • Experience driving large vans.
  • Full UK driving licence (clean licence preferred).
  • Experience in customer-facing roles beneficial.

Performance Expectations:
  • High installation quality with minimal rework or issues.
  • Strong customer satisfaction and positive feedback.
  • Timely completion of routes, installs, and overnight stays.
  • Compliance with health & safety procedures and vehicle standards.
  • Smart, efficient problem-solving on site.
