Responsibilities

The Intern will train with key team members in underwriting, operations and claims to learn and participate in the Berkley Edge underwriting and claims process. This is a resume builder and stepping stone to a future career in the Insurance Industry.

  • This temporary based position requires strong analysis skills in accordance with service standards, objectives, and following underwriting guidelines.
  • The internship will involve a final project incorporating items learned throughout the internship.
  • Availability to work independently, both on a remote and potential on a hybrid-based in-person schedule through the summer months.
  • Perform ad-hoc financial analysis as needed to support our business partners.

Qualifications

  • Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree with a focus in Risk Management and Insurance, or a related program/field preferred.
  • GPA of 3.0 and above required.
  • Rising Junior or Senior student is preferred.
  • Interest in enhancing classroom learning through practical career-related work experience within the industry.
  • Prior work experience is preferred.
  • Career Interest in Underwriting or claims in Excess and Surplus Lines.
  • Ability to assess priorities and manage deadlines effectively.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proven attention to detail, with excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.

Internship Details:

  • This is a 10-week, paid internship - Monday, June 1, 2026 - Thursday, August 6, 2026.
  • The hourly rate based on a 37.5-hour work week is $25.00 an hour.
  • This role does not offer a benefits package, as it is a temporary, summer internship position.
