DC Operations Supervisor

Responsible for supervising work and employees on assigned operational activities and shifts to ensure timely, efficient and productive completion. You will be responsible to drive projects that improve productivity, quality and services related to distribution, inventory control and external storage.

  • Plan, organize, direct and control the daily activities including receiving, stocking, picking, packing, shipping, maintenance and inventory control while ensuring that all operations adhere to company policies.
  • Supervise material handlers and drivers, ensuring that merchandise follow all procedural steps.
  • Ensure that material handlers and drivers are well trained to perform their duties. Ensure employees use the WMS system effectively.
  • Establish, report, monitor and improve key supply chain performance indicators (KPIs). Analyse and present regular reports on KPIs related to DC operations, safety, and delivery performance.
  • Leverage performance management and KPIs to ensure each section of the DC is efficient and reach their productivity standard.
  • Manage work schedule and ensure that jobs are assigned effectively and completed properly.
  • Monitor inventory levels to minimize excess stock and reduce carrying costs. Optimize DC layout, workflow, and processes to improve operational efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance productivity, while maintaining a clean, organized DC environment.
  • Develop and maintain operating procedures and best practices.
  • Optimize the use of equipment following health and safety and certification guidelines and control its maintenance.
  • Analyze KPIs and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality.

Communication and Leadership

  • Establish professional relationships when liaising with clients (internal and external), suppliers, transport companies, internal supply chain teams, and your People and Culture partners.
  • Communicate policies and procedures to all employees while ensuring proper execution.
  • Proactively address incidents while finding solutions to challenges.
  • Implement and execute strategies to promote and maintain our position as a renowned Vanfax® brand.
  • Become an asset to the network of fellow DC supervisors across the country when called upon.

Who you are

  • 5-7 years of experience in distribution centre supervision and/or managing a team, preferably within an automotive market.
  • Degree or certification in Logistics or Supply Chain and or equivalent experiences desirable.
  • Planning and agility to handle unexpected changes.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Organized and committed to meeting deadlines.
  • Solid knowledge of health and safety in the distribution centre environment.
  • Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including extensive knowledge of AS400.
