Position Summary
The Attendance, Truancy, Intervention & Prevention (ATIP) Coordinator provides comprehensive Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 attendance support across multiple schools. At the Tier 3 level, the ATIP Coordinator delivers individualized interventions for students with persistent attendance challenges, acts as the school’s attendance expert, and partners closely with families, staff, and external agencies. Responsibilities include family outreach, attendance planning, data monitoring, professional development, truancy court attendance, and collaboration with school teams to reduce or prevent truancy. The ATIP Coordinator works in partnership with school leadership, Family Support Services, Special Education, Project Go, DHS, and other community agencies to address barriers and improve student attendance outcomes.


Core Responsibilities



  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state, local, and BCN attendance/truancy requirements.

  • Monitor indicators such as extreme tardiness, unexcused absences, and chronic absenteeism.

  • Deliver intensive Tier 3 case management by coordinating with Project Go and external agencies.

  • Conduct needs assessments and develop Student Attendance Improvement Plans (SAIPs).

  • Case-manage an assigned roster of chronically truant students.

  • Implement proactive prevention strategies, including daily outreach such as calls, letters, and home visits.

  • Provide professional development to staff and students on attendance interventions and best practices.

  • Conduct proactive home visits in August to support strong Day 1 attendance readiness.

  • Gather and analyze attendance data to identify trends and recommend Tier 1 and Tier 2 interventions.

  • Report safety or welfare concerns to child services or law enforcement when required.

  • Celebrate student and schoolwide progress toward attendance goals.



Operations Support (As Needed)
Support school operations and culture teams to ensure daily attendance is accurate and consistently documented. Examples include:



  • Assisting with late arrivals and issuing late passes

  • Preparing and distributing attendance communications (bulletins, letters, call lists)



Sample Day in the Life


7:45–9:30 AM – Support arrival, check in with students, contact guardians of caseload students who are absent or late
9:30–10:00 AM – Respond to emails
10:00–11:00 AM – Building walkthrough, positive student reinforcement, staff check-ins
11:00 AM–1:30 PM – Attendance meetings, home visits, cross-team collaboration (FSS, Admin, etc.), SAIP meetings
LUNCH
2:00–3:45 PM – Update trackers, SAIPs, guardian contact notes, and daily attendance documentation


Qualifications: 


Education and Experience: 



  • Associate’s degree preferred

  • Experience in an urban school setting

  • Experience implementing family and student supports

  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check Clearance (Act 34)

  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151)

  • Federal Bureau of Investigation Record Check Clearance (Act 114)

  • Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Clearance (Act 168)


Skills and Abilities: 



  • Evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player 

  •  Knowledge of public education and charter schools is highly desirable but not required 

  • Leadership skills and a demonstrated capacity to work with urban youth 

  • Belief in and alignment with Belmont Charter’s mission
