Employment Counselor

BHSN, one of the fastest-growing organizations providing whole-person care in the region, is in search of passionate individuals to join our rapidly expanding team!

As an Employment Counselor, you’ll provide comprehensive employment services designed to help individuals prepare for, obtain, and retain meaningful employment. This includes everything from building resumes to refining interview skills, understanding workplace expectations, offering personalized coaching on and off the job site, and more! You’ll meet individuals where they are, literally and figuratively, working with them both in the community and behind the scenes to foster independence, build skills, and promote inclusion in the workforce. 

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 4:00PM

What your day might look like:

• Provide intensive supported employment services through ACCES-VR, including:
• Job development: Identifying career goals, job matching, and connecting with local employers.
• Skill building: Resume writing, interview preparation, soft-skills, and more.
• Assessment services: Individualized community and career exploration services to guide program participants in mapping out their employment path.
• Placement services: Supporting program participants in navigating the job market, applying to jobs, scheduling interviews, identifying barriers to success and building coping skills, and more.
• On-site and off-site job support: Identifying and providing varying levels of support both in the office and within the community.
• Build engaging relationships with program participants and maintain regular contact to meet their evolving needs.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with regulatory standards and both BHSN and ACCES-VR agency policies.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team to coordinate care and align services.
• Offer accessible scheduling and creative support to meet individuals’ needs.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Your skills and qualifications: 

• Associate degree in a Human Services field preferred
  (OR) At least 2 years of experience in mental health, employment services, or rehabilitation
• A valid NYS driver’s license and reliable transportation (required)
• Commitment to person-centered care, inclusivity, and professional integrity
