The Head of Surgical Operations is a senior executive role within Beaumont Hospital, reporting to the COO. The post holder will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of scheduled and unscheduled surgery across multiple directorates: Surgery, Transplant Urology & Nephrology, Critical Care & Anesthetics, NeuroCent and the Scheduled Care Team. The role is pivotal in growing the surgical capacity and profile of Beaumont Hospital, driving efficiency, productivity, and innovation in care delivery. The post holder will adopt a data-driven approach to capacity mapping and planning, maximise utilisation of existing resources, and ensure compliance with Sláintecare targets. They will also develop strong partnerships with external stakeholders including HSE Acute Hospitals, NTPF, and regional health networks.

supporting continued access to care during periods of high demand and escalation

The successful candidate will participate in the senior management on-call roster for the hospital and deputise for the COO as required.

Beaumont Hospital (incorporating St. Joseph's Hospital, Raheny) is the principal teaching hospital for the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Beaumont is the Lead Hospital of the RCSI Hospital Group, which includes; Connolly Hospital, Rotunda Hospital, Monaghan Hospital, Louth County Hospital Dundalk and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda.
In addition, we are a Designated Cancer Centre and the Regional Treatment Centre for Ear, Nose and Throat, and Gastroenterology. We are also the National Referral Centre for Neurosurgery and Neurology, Renal Transplantation, and Cochlear Implantation.
