Company Summary:
Beacon is a successful and national behavioral health company providing residential-based services and 
supports to children and adults Complex Behavioral Health conditions, Severe Mental Illness, Autism, and

Position Summary:
The Lead Billing Specialist oversees daily billing operations to ensure accurate and timely invoicing, 
payment processing, and account reconciliation. This role provides leadership to the billing team, ensures 
compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements, and supports process 
improvements that enhance efficiency and financial performance.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Billing Team
Primary Responsibilities:
• Always be compliant with all company and regulatory policies and procedures.
• Oversee and manage the daily billing workflow, including invoice preparation, charge entry, 
claims submission, and payment posting.
• Ensure all billing is accurate, complete, and submitted within required timelines.
• Monitor aging reports and work with staff to resolve denials, discrepancies, and outstanding 
balances.
• Review and approve billing adjustments, write-offs, and corrections.
• Supervise, train, and support billing staff; assign workloads and manage performance.
• Conduct regular team meetings and provide coaching, feedback, and development opportunities.
• Ensure staff compliance with internal procedures, regulatory requirements, and industry best 
practices.
• Serve as the point of contact for escalated billing questions and client/payer inquiries.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation for audits and reporting.
Team Member Expectations:
• Must be compliant with company and regulatory policies and procedures. 
• Participate and contribute to weekly, bi-week or monthly leadership calls. Be prepared to report 
on applicable KPIs that best reflect the performance of your team.
• Preserve and protect the privacy, confidentiality and security of all medical records, proprietary 
and other confidential information relating to Beacon Specialized Living, its Individuals, Team 
Members, activities and affiliates, in accordance with all applicable laws (especially HIPAA) and 
contract terms.

• Monitors and corrects employee gossip, harassment, favoritism, and other negative social
workplace behaviors to ensure a positive and productive work environment.

sensitive to the feelings of our Individuals and avoid responding negatively to stigmas that they 
will never truly understand. 
• Follow Beacon’s policies, procedures, and manuals.
• Cooperates with Beacon Specialized Living, the Department of Human Services (DHS) staff or any 
other regulatory body during any inspection, investigation or inquiry.
• Accept other duties as assigned.

Education and Qualifications:
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• 3+ years of billing experience, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or lead role. 
• Strong knowledge of billing procedures, coding (if healthcare), and reimbursement processes.
• Must pass criminal background checks, central registry check (in applicable states) and child abuse 
registry (in applicable states).
• Must complete and pass a drug test, in applicable states.
• Must possess a valid Driver’s License and have reliable transportation.
• Proficient in speaking, reading and writing the English language.
• Approved by state, federal and government entities to work within BSLS programs.
• Ability to use office equipment, including BSLS information technology systems.

Work Environment:
Most of your job duties will be performed from an office.
Travel:
No travel required.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to 
successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision 
abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. This would require the 
ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 
Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
