Position Summary

The Systems Project Manager – Automation & Integration manages the execution of automation and integration projects for BW Packaging. Owns project coordination, communication, and follow-through to ensure delivery aligns with defined scope, schedule, cost, and customer commitments.

Serves as the consistent point of contact for assigned projects, as a customer advocate and a steward of schedule, cost, and margin outcomes. Works within established project governance and escalation structures, partnering closely with others in a matrixed environment, to support predictable outcomes, margin health, and customer confidence.

Key Responsibilities

Project Execution & Coordination

  • Execute automation and integration projects with ownership of project scope, schedule, cost, and approved change activity within defined authority levels.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, action tracking, and execution plans aligned with IPS standards.
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities across Applications & Estimating, Controls, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Field Service, and external partners.
  • Support structured project reviews, internal checkpoints, and customer milestones, escalating as appropriate.

Scope, Schedule & Financial Management

  • Execute projects in alignment with approved scope, commercial terms, and delivery assumptions established during quotation.
  • Track project budgets, cost performance, and financial status; surface risks, variances, and trends in a timely manner.
  • Apply financial awareness and execution judgment to protect delivery commitments and margin integrity.
  • Support change management processes in coordination with Business Development and under Team Lead guidance.

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Maintain regular, transparent communication with customers regarding project status, risks, and milestones.
  • Act as a customer advocate during execution, ensuring concerns are understood, addressed, and communicated appropriately.
  • Conduct and participate in customer meetings throughout execution, including reviews, FATs, and acceptance activities, as required.
  • Partner with internal teams and external vendors to maintain alignment and execution momentum.

Risk Management & Issue Resolution

  • Identify execution risks, constraints, and dependencies early and communicate them clearly.
  • Coordinate mitigation actions with functional partners to maintain schedule and delivery momentum.
  • Escalate issues appropriately through defined channels to protect outcomes and customer trust.
  • Support technical coordination and structured problem-solving to resolve execution challenges.

Process Discipline & Continuous Improvement

  • Apply established project management standards, tools, and reporting routines consistently.
  • Participate in lessons-learned activities to strengthen future execution quality and predictability.
  • Identify opportunities to improve coordination, communication, and execution consistency across IPS projects.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Controls Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred.
  • Experience managing capital equipment, automation, or systems integration projects in manufacturing environments.
  • Working knowledge of automation systems, integration interfaces, and commissioning activities.
  • Strong skills in schedule management, financial tracking, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Ability to manage complex stakeholder interactions across customers, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency with standard project management and productivity tools.
  • Clear, confident communicator across technical and commercial audiences.
  • Flexibility to take on evolving responsibilities in response to strategic priorities and business needs.
  • PMP, CAPM or similar certification preferred
