Purpose of the role

To determine, negotiate and agree internal quality procedures, service standards and specification to improve performance and quality directing objectives. 

Accountabilities

  • Identification of industry trends and developments to implement best practice in quality assurance Services.
  • Collaboration with teams across the bank to align and integrate quality assurance processes.
  • Development and governance of internal quality assurance procedures, standards and specifications, and act as a catalyst for change, mitigate risks and maintain efficient operations.
  • Development of reports and presentations on quality assurance performance and communicate findings to internal senior stakeholders.
  • Identification of areas for improvement and providing recommendations for change in quality assurance processes and provide feedback and coaching for colleagues on these highlighted areas.
  • Execution of service quality assessments to monitor the quality objectives set by the bank, and ensure they comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Participation in projects and initiatives to improve quality assurance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Determination of risk based on outcome of QA reviews, flagging risks that are outside of tolerance.

Key critical skills required for this role include:

  • QA AVP lead is a strong leader with Business & AML knowledge, commercial awareness, stakeholder management, risk awareness and control Mindset. The QA AVP lead is primarily responsible for managing a team of QA Analyst completing due diligence as mandated by the Barclays Policy & Procedure. While the primary role is to detect the bank from AML risk, a QA AVP lead must understand the service element provided to the Business, thereby adhering to committed SLAs.

  • Quality Assurance AVP is responsible for detecting regulatory and / or reputational risk from financial crime – anti-terrorist, anti-money laundering, sanctions, corruption / bribery.  The role is responsible for the control governance across Corporate & Investment Banking.

  • Manage a team size spanning c15-20 FTEs with functional accountability for the provision of Quality Assurance services in Corporate & Investment Banking business

  • The role holder is responsible for meeting the regulatory obligations in the execution of quality assurance undertaken as part of the Know Your Customer process (KYC) for Onboarding and Refresh teams.

  • The role holder is accountable to lead, develop and motivate teams undertaking complex KYC checks to ensure alignment to Barclays policy & Procedural requirements.

  • QA AVP lead is a strong leader with Business & AML knowledge, commercial awareness, stakeholder management, risk awareness and control Mindset. The QA AVP lead is primarily responsible for ensuring all QA controls are executed as per QA framework. AVP QA is also responsible for implementation of minimum QA standards, a Financial Crime minimum standard for QA.

  • The QA AVP lead will support testing and implementing of new controls and checks for QA teams to maintain the Quality Assurance framework.

  • The QA AVP should take the lead in internal forum calls to calibrate errors alongside QA Managers. Additionally, they should conduct calibration calls with QC to discuss and reach agreements on the findings. The QA AVP must also ensure that appeals are addressed promptly by the Senior QA Leadership for reporting purposes.

  • QA AVP is responsible for QA SLA reporting & KRI reporting within stipulated timelines.

  • Use analytical skills to highlight areas of development for colleagues and areas in which the QC/QA process can be improved to ensure an improved Client experience and controls.

  • Ability to priorities effectively, setting direction and targets, balancing resources and management stake and Proven Leadership experience including recruitment, structuring, leading and motivating operational teams to deliver results against stretching performance targets.

  • QA AVP is responsible for setting clear & SMART objectives for the team & responsible for assessing team’s performance providing constructive feedback & recognize achievements.

  • Use strong communication skills to interact professionally with global leadership team and internal stakeholders, supporting the delivery of excellent Client service & in feeding back quality issues identified in the QA process.
