With inpatient and outpatient services, our professional team of radiologists and radiology technicians makes sure that each diagnostic imaging test or interventional radiology procedure is performed efficiently and with your comfort in mind.

 

Position Summary

Sonographer I On Call PRN

Provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic sonographic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention.

 

SHIFT: This role will help to cover variable shift coverage to align with 24/7 coverage. 

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

Works closely with Radiologist to perform diagnostic sonographic exams.Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and commitment to excellence standards.Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age specific needs.Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and assures that the information is accurately documented.Positions patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation.Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.Administers medical aid as required for any emergency situation.Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.Assists in supervision of student sonographers and training of new sonographers.Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.Ensures safety of all customers.Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

 

Other Related Functions

Follows established standards of practice for image processing and interpretation.Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.Maintains well stocked and organized work areas.May be required to work at any facilityProvides patient transport.

Qualifications

Education/TrainingGraduate of an accredited school of sonography and meets American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) eligibility guidelines.  Licensure/Certification• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)registered through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)• Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certificate.• Maintains ARDMS physics registry and one ARDMS registry •  Must be registered through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) within twelve (12) months of hire  ExperienceKnowledge of routine ultrasound procedures and routinely demonstrates competency in performing ultrasound examinations pertinent to department.
