About this role

Job Title: Quality Assurance Engineer

Location: Portsmouth (We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role)

Salary: Up to £45,000 (dependent on skills and experience)

What you’ll be doing:

  • Works as a fully contributory member of the Quality team
  • Undertake specific complex Quality Assurance activities across Maritime and Land Defence solutions
  • Awareness of Customer Quality conditions
  • Support the management of non-conformance resolution and corrective actions with suppliers, key stakeholders and process owners
  • The ability to analyse data effectively resulting in themes and corrective actions
  • Contribute in working groups ensuring deliverables are achieved and Learning from Experience (LfE) is captured and applied
  • Support departmental reviews and liaise with the customer when required
  • The ability to produce written reports and presentations ensuring accuracy and clarity of meaning

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • NC or HNC qualified in an appropriate technical discipline or equivalent Quality experience
  • Quality professional, lead/internal auditor status or equivalent experience
  • Understanding and application of ISO 9001 / EN9100 standards
  • Understanding of Business Management Systems, the Operational Framework and Operational Assurance process
  • Knowledge of product safety requirements
  • Understanding the importance of cross functional integration
  • Export requirements knowledge (for example International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR))

Desirable:

  • The ability to interpret specifications, procedures and contract requirements
  • Experience of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies; Fishbone, 5 Why, relationship diagrams, six sigma etc. gathering and analysing evidence cross functionally
  • Effective action management and verification
  • Effective stakeholder management (including with the Customer)

The Maritime and Land Defence Solutions QA

The Maritime and Land Defence Solutions QA team works closely with projects delivering a range of products and services to our defence customers in the UK and abroad. The QA team provides assurance that Quality requirements are being met so that our outputs deliver the capability our customers demand and rely on. You will have the opportunity to develop and enhance your skills and knowledge, with the potential to lead into more senior positions within a global business.
