Position Summary:  Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, and piping/electrical systems in commercial or industrial establishments:

• Visually inspects machinery and support equipment prior to use
• Test machinery and supporting equipment after repair and prior to use
• Troubleshoots inoperable or malfunctioning machinery and supporting equipment to detect root cause
  • Listens for unusual sounds
  • Feels for unusual vibration
  • Communicates with users regarding variation specifics
• Dismantles inoperable or malfunctioning machinery and supporting equipment, installs new or repaired parts and reassembles the machinery or supporting equipment
• Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of the machinery and supporting equipment as part of the Preventative Maintenance Program
• Installs and repairs electrical apparatus (transformers and wiring, electrical and electronic components) of machinery and supporting equipment
• Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains piping systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
• Repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators and related equipment
• Repairs and maintains physical structure(s) of the establishment
• Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts
• Sets up and operates machine tools such as a lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machinery to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures and tools.
• Other duties as assigned
