The role

As a Multi‑Skilled Operative, you’ll be part of something extraordinary. You’ll support essential engineering activity that keeps the Royal Navy’s fleet ready for operations—contributing directly to national defence and the protection of our communities. This is hands‑on, purposeful work where every task supports a larger mission.

You’ll gain experience across a broad range of engineering support activities, working with skilled teams and specialist equipment. With exposure to unique defence engineering environments and continuous learning opportunities, this role offers an exciting route to develop your skills and grow your career in defence, aerospace and engineering.

 

 

Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:

  • Support engineering teams with planned preventative maintenance and nuclear‑implicated work.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving system, manufacturing and equipment defects.
  • Support pressure testing, component repairs and freeze‑seal operations.
  • Work safely within all Health & Safety legislation, Safe Systems of Work and Babcock policies.
  • Contribute ideas to improve systems, processes and team productivity.

 

 

This is a full‑time, permanent role, 36 hours per week, Monday–Thursday, based on site at HMNB Faslane.

 

 

Essential experience of the Multi-Skilled Operative:

  • Knowledge of fleet engineering activities and equipment such as scaffolding, FLT operations and slinging.
  • Experience in manual handling.
  • Understanding of Risk Assessments, COSHH and Safe Systems of Work.
  • A valid UK driving licence.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role.
