The role

As an Industrial Safety Advisor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will play a crucial role in supporting one of our key decommissioning projects, helping to ensure that vital information is properly captured, controlled, and shared. This is an opportunity to contribute to work that protects people, the environment, and the nation’s clean energy future.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to

  • Develop and maintain the Industrial Safety Management System and supporting processes.
  • Lead input to industrial safety and fire protection training, sharing subject‑matter expertise.
  • Collaborate with construction and operations teams to embed a consistent safety culture.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness activities and statutory assessments.
  • Champion proactive behaviours that strengthen safety across the site.

 

This is a full‑time role working 37 hours per week at Hinkley Point C; hybrid working patterns are available.

 

Essential experience of the Industrial Safety Advisor:

  • Experience building, implementing and maintaining occupational health and safety management systems in industrial settings.
  • Detailed knowledge of UK health and safety legislation (e.g., HSWA, MHSWR, PUWER, LOLER) and applicable codes of practice.
  • Practical knowledge of ISO 45001.
  • Proven experience carrying out and reviewing risk assessments in varied operational environments.
  • Strong communication and clear, concise report‑writing skills.

 

Qualifications for the Industrial Safety Advisor:

  • Essential: NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and current IOSH membership.
  • Preferred: ISO 45001 Lead Auditor; additional credentials in fire safety and emergency planning; experience in nuclear, oil & gas, chemicals or manufacturing.

 

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role. Further details are available at United Kingdom Security Vetting: clearance levels - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
