About you

You are technically capable and curious professional who is ready to grow within a complex and strategically critical Defence program. You bring a sound foundation in engineering, with a particular interest in sustainment and supportability, and are eager to develop deeper expertise in submarine platform technology and quality management practised. Your ability to engage with technical data, follow procedures, and support the application of engineering standards allows you to contribute meaningfully from day one. You have experience with or exposure to engineering systems such as PLM or MRP tools, as well as design or analysis software, and you are comfortable working within structured, compliance-driven environments. You are collaborative and adaptable, ready to support colleagues across the business, and motivated by the opportunity to be part of a team shaping the future of Australia’s’ submarine sustainment capability.

 

About the role

As an Engineering Technician (Supportability- Supplier Assurance), at Babcock, you will play a vital role in supporting the capability uplift of potential supply chain partners for submarine platform sustainment services. Guided by experience professional, you will apply your technical knowledge to help asses and enhance supplier capability with the ultimate aim of qualification for submarine sustainment tasks. You will be actively involved in interpreting technical requirements for supply chain services and contributing to engineering tasks and projects that support the delivery of effective, sustainable solutions. In this role you will assist in identifying and investigating supply chain capability and risks, conducting technical risk assessments, and ensuring that relevant procedures, codes and standards are accurately applied. You will support engineering activities by applying knowledge of submarine sustainment operations, quality management systems, and supplier engagement principles. A key part of your work will also include using engineering toolsets such as PLM or MRP systems and software for design, simulation and analysis. Working within the H&B Defence team, you will not only contribute to programs technical success but also continue to build your own experience and understanding within a specialised Defence environment.

 

To be successful in this position you will bring;

  • This role is open to both mid and senior levels, along with both engineering technicians and engineers
  • Australian Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Commonwealth Defence security clearance as defined by AGSVA guidelines
  • High level of interpersonal communications skills
  • Significant exposure to a relevant defence industry engineering function
  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline
