The Role

As the Deputy Security Controller, you will be crucial within the realm of security for Mission Systems and the wider Babcock group, offering substantial responsibility and involvement in an innovative team. You will report directly to the Security Controller and provide essential support, advice and guidance to the requisite programs and business.

 

As the Deputy Security Controller for Mission Systems, you will be accountable for delivering a broad range of security services and providing a high-level of security services in support of the Security Controller.

 

  • Oversee physical security measures such as access control, CCTV systems, and key management.
  • Investigate security breaches, report criminal activity, and work with relevant authorities on incident containment and resolution.
  • Conduct internal audits, check supplier compliance, and ensure all security practices align with regulations and contractual requirements.
  • Act as a point of contact between the company and government agencies, customers, and internal stakeholders on security matters.
  • Help implement and maintain security policies and procedures to ensure compliance with government and company standards as well as develop and deliver security education and awareness programs for staff.
  • Manage security clearances (like BPSS and NSV) for new and existing employees and contractors.

 

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based on-site at Ashton Vale, Bristol. However, this can be flexible where business allows to work from home, typically one day a week.

 

Essential Experience of the Deputy Security Controller

 

  • Practical and working knowledge of GovS007 as well as relevant aspects of JSP 440.
  • Possess well developed IT skills.
  • Practical and working knowledge of GDPR.
  • Strong collaborator with evidence of interfacing and building trust across all levels.
  • Must be able to attain DV clearance.

 

Qualifications for the Deputy Security Controller

 

  • Qualified to Degree level or equivalent in a related subject, or relevant industry experience to security.

 

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance for this role. However, you will be eligible to start on Standard (BPSS) but will need to obtain Developed Vetting (DV) once in post.
